the posting
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We're the people who keep the cloud running — supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer II to join our Infrastructure Supply Chain team, building large-scale distributed systems that power one of the world's most complex physical supply chains. Our systems manage hundreds of thousands of rack demands annually across AMER, EMEA, APAC, and GOVT regions — from demand forecasting and material planning to manufacturing execution, logistics, and data center deployment.
These are greenfield projects offering a rare opportunity to build systems from the ground up using modern technologies including reactive microservices, serverless computing, and distributed NoSQL data stores.
- What You'll Do
- Design and build highly scalable, fault-tolerant distributed systems that support the end-to-end infrastructure supply chain — spanning demand planning, fulfillment, manufacturing, logistics, and DC readiness
- Solve complex architecture and business problems, delivering extensible solutions that operate at AWS scale
- Write high-quality, modular, functional, and testable code with a focus on operational excellence
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including supply chain planners, hardware engineers, and operations managers to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Formally mentor junior engineers on system design, coding best practices, and troubleshooting
- Contribute to the full software development lifecycle — from design and code reviews through testing, deployment, and operations
- Drive innovation in areas such as demand forecasting, supply optimization, and end-to-end observability through the Infrastructure Control Tower
- Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience programming with at least one modern software programming language (Java, Python, TypeScript, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of fundamental algorithms, data structures, and system design principles
- Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of full software development lifecycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
- Experience building distributed systems, microservices architectures, or event-driven platforms at scale
- Familiarity with AWS services (Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS/SNS, Step Functions, ECS/EKS)
- Experience with supply chain, logistics, or manufacturing domain systems
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Why Join Us
- Greenfield opportunity — Build from scratch with technologies and define the architecture from day one
- Massive scale — Work on systems that manage 130+ hardware categories, global manufacturing partners (Jabil, Foxconn, Quanta), and data center deployments worldwide
- High impact — Every rack you help deliver powers the AWS services that millions of customers depend on
- Career growth — Endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and career-advancing resources to help you grow into a senior technical leader
- About the Team
- We value diverse experiences. Even if you do not meet all of the preferred qualifications listed above, we encourage you to apply. If your career is just starting, hasn't followed a traditional path, or includes alternative experiences, don't let it stop you from applying.
We value work-life harmony and strive for flexibility as part of our working culture. Our employee-led and company-sponsored affinity groups promote inclusion and empower our people to take pride in what makes us unique.
