the posting
- Amazon Now (Quick Commerce) — is one of Amazon's largest and fastest-growing businesses, operating across 8+ marketplaces (India, MENA, North America, EU, UK, Japan) and powering adjacent businesses like India Fresh and Healthcare. The platform handles >0.7MM orders/day, scaling to 2MM by year-end.
- As an SDE2 on the Tez CX PIXEL team, you would work at the heart of Amazon Now's quick commerce platform. IXEL owns the end-to-end in-store shopping experience, from homepage and browse surfaces through personalization, live cart, single cart and checkout, deals and value surfacing, AI-driven merchandising, and geospatial CX.
- The systems are Tier 1, serving 2,000+ TPS as the canonical worldwide platforms for shopping, ordering, and savings. The role directly impacts conversion, basket size, and checkout completion — the metrics that turn platform growth into revenue. The defining product shift ahead is the adaptive, agentic store — moving from a fixed storefront to one that intelligently composes itself around each customer's habits, context, and intent, making this a compelling charter for an SDE2 looking to drive high-impact, customer-facing systems at scale.
- Key job responsibilities
- - You solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.
- - You work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant.
- - You are proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when it is appropriate to use them (and when it is not). Your solutions are pragmatic.
- - You consider the legacy of the code you produce and write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand.
- - You limit the use of short-term workarounds. You do things with the proper level of complexity the first time (or at least minimize incidental complexity).
- - You create flexible software without over-engineering. You make appropriate trade-offs, re-use where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies.
- - You are efficient with resource usage (e.g., system hardware, database, memory/CPU, etc.)
- - You work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders, and peers
- About the team
- We are fast-paced and focussed team made of passionate and ambitious Amazonians who strive to build industry leading products while closely collaborating and having fun. The team is made of multiple Sr. SDEs and are working on first time in Amazon initiatives which will scale beyond India and grocery. The team follows a flexible and collaborative work culture with ample mentoring and guidance from PEs. The team values high ownership, bias for action and insist on highest standards and follows build fast and iterate fast methodology. The team is suitable for passionate engineers who are equally interested in contributing to business and product roadmap.
