C.H. Robinson is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Master Data Management (MDM) team within Technology. This team owns the customer, carrier, and location golden records that power critical business processes across our global logistics platform. In this role, you will help build and evolve the platforms, services, and data products that ensure our master data remains accurate, complete, and trusted at scale. You will work with both internal and external data sources to enrich, validate, match, and govern core business entities, enabling high-quality data across the enterprise. The systems you build will play a foundational role in quoting, rating, booking, tracking, and delivering millions of customer shipments. You will tackle complex engineering challenges involving data quality, identity resolution, data governance, automation, distributed systems, and AI-driven workflows. We are looking for engineers who are passionate about building scalable, resilient platforms and who enjoy solving difficult data and systems problems. The ideal candidate is comfortable leveraging modern AI-powered development tools and is genuinely curious about how to build reliable, production-grade automation, intelligent workflows, and autonomous agents within an enterprise environment. As a senior engineer, you will help shape technical direction, mentor other engineers, and drive engineering excellence while partnering closely with product, architecture, and business stakeholders. Your work will directly influence the quality and reliability of the data that powers C.H. Robinson's global supply chain operations. This role can be based only in MN, IL or Kansas City
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and build the next generation of C.H. Robinson's master data platform responsible for maintaining trusted customer, carrier, and location golden records used across the enterprise
- Contribute to the technical roadmap and architectural direction of the master data platform
- Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment
- Design and develop proof of concepts (POCs) to validate new ideas and technologies
- Build resilient and scalable solutions that are critical to the platform's success
- Conduct thorough research to identify and adopt the best technical products and solutions
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to drive continuous improvement
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of experience designing and driving implementation of large-scale software products or services that span multiple systems
- Experience developing POCs and bringing innovative ideas to life
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Experience with modern development languages (ex. .Net CORE, C#)
- Experience with database objects in relational (ex. MS SQL, Oracle) and non-relational databases (ex. MongoDB, Elastic, Cosmos)
- Experience with microservice architecture, CQRS, event driven and eventually consistent system design patterns and system flows
- Experience with data streaming architecture and frameworks (Kafka, ESB)
- Experience establishing testing patterns, acceptance testing criteria, and reviewing others’ automated tests
- Experience with version control systems (ex. GIT, GITHub, TFS, etc.)
- Experience with CI/CD continuous integration / continuous deployment practices
- Experience building cloud native applications and services (ex. Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Experience with end-to-end feature development including backend/API engineering
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
- Proven track record of effectively delivering results in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or MIS; or, 4 years of equivalent work experience and a high school diploma/GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience modernizing legacy systems and incrementally moving complex business capabilities toward modern architectures
- Experience designing highly automated, high-volume transactional workflows where human intervention is reserved primarily for exceptions
- Experience with decision engines, optimization, rules systems, or intelligent workflow orchestration
- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment while navigating ambiguity and multiple priorities
- Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to experiment with emerging technologies while maintaining sound engineering discipline
- Strong customer focus and ability to connect technical investments to measurable business outcomes
- A learning and growth mindset that is open to giving and receiving feedback

Compensation Range
$131,800.00 - $222,500.00
The base pay range displayed on the job posting reflects the minimum and maximum base pay for this specific location. Your individual base pay within this range is determined by job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
