Mō te tūranga | About the role

Join our stabilisation crew delivering key works on the Timaru District Council Road Maintenance Contract and help keep the network safe, reliable, and moving. As a Maintenance Crew Member, you’ll be out on the road doing hands-on work that matters, from repairs and reinstatement through to plant operation and general labouring.

This is a role for someone who likes variety, backs their team, and is happy to muck in where needed. One day you might be operating machinery, the next you’re spotting, shovelling, or supporting road repair works. It’s good, honest work with a crew that knows how to get stuck in and get it done right.

Ngā kawenga matua | Key responsibilities

  • Carry out road repair and maintenance activities across the Timaru roading network.
  • Support stabilisation works including spotting, shovelling, labouring, and general site tasks.
  • Operate a variety of machinery and plant safely and effectively.
  • Work closely with the crew to deliver quality outcomes while meeting safety and performance standards.
  • Help keep worksites tidy, compliant, and running smoothly day to day.

Kei te kimi mātou i tētahi e whai ana i ēnei pūkenga | We’re looking for someone with

  • A Class 2 licence and WTR endorsement (Class 4 licence is advantageous)
  • Experience in road maintenance, civil construction, or similar hands-on work.
  • Confidence operating a range of machinery and small plant.
  • A strong focus on safety, quality, and doing the job properly.
  • Good teamwork skills and a willingness to pitch in wherever needed.
  • The ability to follow instructions, use initiative, and work well in a crew environment.
  • A reliable, positive attitude and a strong work ethic.
