SoundCloud is looking for a Staff Accountant with a passion for numbers to join our great finance team in New York! In this role, you will be part of a dynamic Finance team distributed across our offices in the US and Berlin. The position will focus on supporting our music distribution, premium artist, and advertising business lines. You will work closely with stakeholders across multiple lines of business and global teams, contributing your skills to core finance-related processes and projects within the SoundCloud Group. As part of our US finance function, you will collaborate closely with team members in Berlin while taking ownership of your day-to-day responsibilities. Experienced colleagues are dedicated to sharing their knowledge to help you thrive, grow your skill set, and expand your impact. Following an initial onboarding phase, you will have the opportunity to help streamline and elevate our accounting processes as our business continues to evolve.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage monthly & annual closing and reporting for the distribution line of business

Own Revenue Recognition and Accounts Receivable, including the reconciliation process between DSP reporting, our royalties system, and the general ledger

Execute monthly reconciliations of all accounts associated with your respective business lines

Track Cash and Marketing advance payments and recoupments, including ensuring that all recoupable expenses are accurately associated with an artist account

Maintain General Ledger bookkeeping, ensuring accuracy and completeness for all P&L and balance sheet items within your respective business line

Creating and processing outgoing invoices to customers and booking the receipt of associated cash

Processing record label and music publishing invoices and payments

Partnering with our FP&A department

Collaboration with other teams on accounting matters/projects, acting as a proactive business partner

Experience and Background:

1+ year of experience in Accounting or Auditing, preferably in the Music industry

Strong skills in MS Excel and good knowledge in the use of ERP systems (Oracle Fusion would be a plus)

Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS

Comfortable working in a fast-paced and ambitious work environment in which colleagues are measured by outputs and not formalities

Excellent analytical skills and a structured approach to work are as much a part of your personality as your ability to work in a team and your strong sense of initiative
