Description

Gretchen's House Child Care Centers are seeking dedicated and flexible Childcare Substitute to join our team (work family) and support our early childhood education programs. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about working with children and looking to make a positive impact in a dynamic educational environment.

As a Childcare Substitute, you will support teachers in providing reliable, high-quality care to children, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment.

Flex scheduling: This is a great opportunity for those looking for a part-time, flexible work schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

- Supervise and monitor children in various childcare settings, including classrooms, play areas, and outdoor spaces

- Implement daily activities and routines in accordance with program guidelines and curriculum

- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children at all times

- Communicate effectively with children, parents, and staff regarding daily activities and any concerns

- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment

- Follow all health and safety policies and procedures

- Adapt to different age groups and individual needs as required

- Assist with meal and snack times, including proper hygiene and dietary considerations

- Support children’s social, emotional, and developmental growth through positive interactions

Skills and Qualifications:

- Previous experience working with children in a childcare, preschool, or educational setting preferred

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and routines

- Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in child development

- Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to childcare

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and occasional evenings

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in CPR and First Aid are a plus

  • Knowledge of children’s physical, emotional and developmental patterns
  • Ability to create an atmosphere of positive and appropriate guidance
  • Evidence of emotional maturity and stability
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position
  • Evidence of sufficient judgment to handle crisis situations
  • Reliable transportation to get to and from work
