Job Description

Schedule:

• •M-F
• •5 x 8 hr shifts with minimal call

The Surgical Technologist functions as a member of the patient care team, under the supervision of the physician, registered nurse and/or the unit director. This position provides technical skills in the role of the surgical scrub during operative procedures.

Responsibilities

• •Promotes the vision, mission and PI philosophy of LMH.
• •Utilizes effective interpersonal skills to promote teamwork, collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to deliver optimal patient services.
• •Performs skills from skills checklist accurately.
• •Participates in performance improvement activities, initiating improvement through proper channels.
• •Respects and demonstrates confidentiality.
• •Adheres to hospital policies and procedures.
• •Demonstrates accountability for maintaining and advancing professional competency, meeting educational requirements pertinent to practice.
• •Demonstrates flexibility regarding scheduling.
• •Adheres to safety policies and procedures and displays knowledge of hospital’s emergency code procedures.
• •Participates in staff meetings.
• •May participate in QA, PI activities and other hospital committees.
• •May participate in communications with the surgical representatives with the various vendors.
• •Demonstrates expertise with instrumentation, setting up the case and physician preferences.
• •Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
• •Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position

Qualifications

Required:

• •Graduate of a Surgical Technologist program, or 5 years of scrub technician experience or hospital surgical technologist experience.
• •BLS Certification

Preferred:

• •Recent six to twelve months of Surgical Technologist experience in the Operating Room
• •Certification in Surgical Technology
