What You Will Do:
- The Collins Aerospace Helmet Vision Systems team is developing the next generation of helmet-mounted displays for fixed and rotary-wing aircraft. Our advanced systems provide pilots with intuitive, real-time situational awareness, day or night, by projecting critical flight, tactical, and sensor data directly within their field of view. From the F‑35 Gen III Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS) to the new Zero‑G HMDS+, our technology enables pilots to see through the aircraft, rapidly identify and designate targets, and train with augmented reality. With lightweight designs, immersive high‑definition displays, and digital night vision, we deliver mission‑critical capabilities built on nearly 30 years of experience. Join a team where innovation directly enhances pilot safety, performance, and mission success. We are seeking qualified candidates for a Systems Engineer Intern.
- Perform systems requirements definition, design, analysis, integration, test, verification, and demonstration tasks for advanced helmet-mounted display systems
- Collect and analyze data and troubleshoot issues encountered during lab and flight tests
- Support the update, peer review, and release of systems documentation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and learn from experienced engineers
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
- Must have a minimum of 60 credit hours or Junior standing by the start of the internship and remain enrolled through the full duration of the internship
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Prior RTX internship, co-op, or related work experience
- Hands-on lab, test, prototyping, or hardware/software integration experience
- Experience using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python, C/C++, or Cameo
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication and teamwork skills

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
As part of our commitment to maintaining a secure hiring process, candidates may be asked to attend select steps of the interview process in-person at one of our office locations, regardless of whether the role is designated as on-site, hybrid or remote.
The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.
Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
