Job Description

Are you looking for a hands-on role in a manufacturing environment where quality, teamwork and continuous improvement are valued?

We are looking for a Technical Operator to join our Medical Device Labelling Centre in Plymouth. This team is responsible for producing the tube and packaging labels used across our manufacturing departments, supporting a growing demand driven by IVDR requirements, EC Representative updates, business growth and a range of site-wide projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with manufacturing, technical or printing experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. Previous printing experience would be an advantage, but full training will be provided for the right candidate.

About the role

As a Technical Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring labels are produced safely, accurately and efficiently to support manufacturing operations across the site.

  • Operating Mark Andy and Edale printing presses, along with associated slit and rewind equipment.
  • Following operational procedures and maintaining high quality standards.
  • Working in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and environmental requirements.
  • Completing manufacturing activities safely and efficiently to meet customer and business expectations.
  • Using SAP and Microsoft Office applications to support production processes.
  • Maintaining production records, logs and documentation.
  • Ensuring equipment and work areas are kept clean, organised and safe.
  • Participating in Kaizen and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across the site to support production requirements.

The working hours are 3pm-11pm Monday to Friday and the shift is accompanied by an impressive 25% shift premium on top of your basic salary!

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Safe and efficient operation of Mark Andy/Edale printing presses and associated Slit and Rewind machines.
  • To be aware of the required quality standards in the work areas allocated and be capable of performing to the required acceptable quality levels.
  • Following operational procedures and adhering to quality standards.
  • Performs all manufacturing operations involving optimum observation of environmental and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements to meet Company expectations and customer satisfaction.
  • Use of SAP systems and general computer use (Excell/Word etc.)
  • To maintain logs and records as required in connection with the process.
  • Maintain equipment and allocated work areas in a clean and safe condition at all times.
  • Maintain engagement through Kaizen/CI participation.
  • Work efficiently and co-operate with stake holders across the site.

About you

We're looking for a positive and reliable team player who enjoys working in a small, supportive team environment.

Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience within a manufacturing, production, technical or printing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • A flexible approach and willingness to support overtime when required.
  • A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn new skills.

Salary Range Information

£24,000.00 - £33,000.00 GBP Annual
