Brooks Instrument ( www.brooksinstrument.com ), an industry leader in flow and pressure instrumentation for critical applications, is seeking candidates for a Technical Product Specialist - Semiconductor Products position that will be based at the company headquarters in Hatfield, Pennsylvania (suburban Philadelphia). The company has manufacturing locations in Pennsylvania, Hungary, Malaysia, and Korea, and also maintains sales and service offices throughout the world. Our high-tech products are used in laboratory and process applications in end markets such as: oil & gas, petrochemical, medical devices, waste water, life sciences, and analytical instruments.

Basic Function
The Product Specialist is considered the subject matter expert on design and manufacturing of Brooks Instrument Semi products. This role requires knowledge of Brooks Instrument’s systems and processes to provide regular support to Brooks Customers, Sales, and Marketing organizations. The Product Specialist’s primary function is to enhance Brooks' global sales and profitability for the semiconductor business unit by actively supporting elements of the marketing mix (price, product, promotion, and distribution). The Product Specialist will work jointly with others in Product Management, Sales, Applications, Quality, Customer Service, Engineering and Operations, to provide daily support to Brooks Semiconductor Customers, and the Sales Team. The basic job function consists of driving results with an emphasis on maintaining high-quality standards and profitability while meeting the timeliness expectations of Brooks customers. A key success factor will be utilizing organizational and program management skills and demonstrating the ability to work with members of cross-functional teams on a routine basis. The role will require a high sense of urgency, exceptional organizational ability, being effective at multi-tasking and maintaining a positive can-do attitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate timely and accurate responses to customer and dales inquires.
- Provide detailed, accurate answers to customers driven questions including products and applications.
- Identify and understand emerging applications for Brooks' products.
- Ensure current product line information (for example, delivery or lead-time changes) is efficiently communicated.
- Monitor and assess customers’ expectations for products and services.
- Translate customers’ needs into specifications for Brooks’ products and services.
- Make data driven decisions.
- Support customer escalations.
- Be responsible for managing product line profitability.
- Implement pricing strategies to maximize Brooks' opportunities for penetration and profit.
- Perform profit analysis for current and proposed products.
- Manage projects. Work closely with engineering, operations, and quality to bring to market products and services that meet customers’ requirements.
- Monitor the competitive environment. Identify threats and opportunities and be proactive in addressing those.
- Give feedback where required on key features that Brooks’ may want to focus on to retain or gain market share.
- Work with marketing communications to implement promotions, targeted communications, internet and social media strategies and other activities in support of the product, portfolio and market strategies.
- Develop sales support material/literature, web content and training materials.
- Work with sales and customers and travel as necessary to understand customers’ needs, support major account activity, maintain product awareness, support trade shows, provide training and assure factory performance.
- Ability to work with others on a team and influence actions without formal authority.
- Regular attendance.
- Other job duties as required.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field. Associate degree in Engineering with substantial relevant experience also considered.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant experience required.
- Semiconductor industry experience strongly preferred.
- Previous experience in sales, marketing, or a customer-facing role is preferred.
- Previous experience with project or program management in cross functional teams is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
- Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills required.
- Ability to work effectively on a team and across the organization to achieve objectives required.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical information is required.
- An understanding of marketing responsibilities including product portfolio, price, promotion and distribution preferred.
