The Retail Infrastructure Services team within Amazon Worldwide Grocery Store Tech is looking for a passionate and innovative Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our team. We have an opportunity to revolutionize the brick-and-mortar grocery shopping experience and set new standards for accessing the highest quality organic and natural groceries across the US, Canada, and the UK stores.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will be a key member of tech initiatives and help drive forward technology solutions working with delivery teams, infrastructure engineers, database engineers, mobile engineers, and deployment program managers to create a best-in-class grocery shopping experience. The candidate must possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues and remove barriers to project success. Being able to stand up cross-functional teams, establish trust with a variety of stakeholders, design solutions, remove blockers, and find creative ways to accelerate project delivery is a must. The ideal candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator, both written and verbally, and possess experience in tactical project management of highly technical initiatives, as well as strategic program management. They will be able to apply a variety of project management tools, methodologies and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle and exhibit demonstrated experience in core project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, resources, quality and risk management, reporting, and metric development/tracking.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • - Navigate ambiguity and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • - Understand and apply mechanical and electrical engineering concepts.
  • - Collaborate with engineering teams to build solutions and prepare them for delivery to store banners via deployment program managers and third-party OEM and Field Service partners.
  • - Lead rollouts of new technology to existing stores
  • - Drive engineering efforts to develop and implement creative solutions.
  • - Lead AWS implementation projects.
  • - Lead POS/SCO image engineering, printer, and service scale efforts.
  • - Leverage experience in distributed infrastructure deployments (preferred).
  • - Apply cross-functional expertise in architecture/design, infrastructure/hardware engineering, distributed infrastructure/operations, and/or construction within a program management discipline.
  • - Maintain knowledge of best practices and emerging technologies related to infrastructure (network, data center, hardware, software).
  • - Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • You will be working closely with engineers to establish plans for the building and delivery of retail store solutions.
  • About the team
  • This team is responsible for leading complex and challenging projects that will deliver innovative infrastructure solutions for point-of-sale (POS), self-checkout (SCO), service scale, mobility, and printing solutions to our physical stores.

Basic qualifications

  • - 3+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • - 3+ years of project management disciplines including scope, schedule, budget, quality, along with risk and critical path management experience
  • - Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
  • - 3+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • - Experience in technical program management working directly with software engineering teams
  • - Experience leading the design, automation, deployment, and support of large-scale infrastructure
  • - 3+ years of leading development of applications backed by AWS services or using other cloud based technologies and services experience

Preferred qualifications

  • - Experience building and evaluating system-level technical design
  • - 3+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience
  • - Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership
  • - Experience building and maintaining relationships with business partners
  • - Experience in retail, operations and/or business management

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
