Description
We are looking for enthusiastic, energetic Event Staff to join our team. As a member of our team, you will help execute our events with a positive and welcoming presence and contribute to our success with your attention to detail and strong customer service focus. You will report directly to the Event Manager.
Position Duties and Responsibilities
Events Staffing Support (90%)
· Greet event attendees, scan or collect tickets, and direct guests to seating at lectures, concerts, and public programs
· Manage registration tables, monitor crowd flow, and answer participant questions, as needed for academic conferences and workshops
· Support event set up, including arranging tables and chairs, installing event equipment, and setting up catering
· Support event clean up, including removing temporary furniture and equipment
· Maintain a tidy event space, such as removing garbage or clearing tables
· Monitor and support special events and community activities, such as happy hour trivia, bingo, and children’s events
All other duties assigned (10%)
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
· Strong communication skills for receiving, implementing, and providing instructions
· Excellent customer service skills to manage attendee requests
· Quick thinking and problem-solving abilities to resolve issues quickly
· Basic reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends
· Collaboration skills to work well with other Events Team staff and campus events partners
Preferred Qualifications
· 1-2 years of events experience
Working Conditions
- Must be able to remain mobile for prolonged periods.
- Public-facing position with frequent interaction with staff, faculty, and scholars.
- Ability to handle physical work, including lifting, carrying, and setting up furniture and equipment

The anticipated pay for this position is $28.00 per hour. This is a temporary non-benefit-eligible position. NJ Paid Sick Leave accrual is available.
