About the Role

A24 is seeking a Temporary Music Clearance & Operations Specialist to support music clearance and operational needs across marketing and film during a maternity leave coverage period (estimated November 2026 to July 2027 inclusive of training and handoff).

This is a hybrid position, requiring in-person work 3 to 4 days a week in our West Hollywood, CA office.

Responsibilities

Music Clearances

Manage the marketing clearance calendar and coordinate timelines with Creative Marketing leads

Liaise with trailer house music supervisors and producers on creative choices and edit versioning

Facilitate clearances for trailer, promo, and social assets across tracks, remixes, and SFX

Research rights holders and ownership splits, and negotiate directly with rights holders within approved budget parameters

Track budgets and clearance status in AirTable; escalate and follow up on unresponsive rights holders under tight turnarounds

Circulate final confirmations to internal teams and external partners for approval and delivery

Music Asset & Document Management

Manage inbound and outbound music delivery (score, original music, cue sheets) and associated rights documentation

QC delivered audio and paperwork for accuracy and compliance, coordinating with the Post Supervisor to resolve errors

Maintain the external-facing audio catalog and distribute assets to rights holders and partners for review

Source and organize music, playlists, and composer reels for the Music Supervisor and filmmakers

Film Project Management & Execution

Manage external and internal follow-up across 27+ active film projects, tracking budget and clearance status for the Music Supervisor

Support on-camera music needs for individual films alongside film music supervisors and Production

Assess SAG/AFM considerations with the Film Business Affairs lead, engaging outside legal support as needed

Manage the original song and "Inspired By" artist outreach process from start to finish, including filmmaker reviews

Track and ensure adherence to marketing and film delivery deadlines, ensuring materials are ready for international delivery

Scheduling & Meeting Coordination

Coordinate calls and prepare agendas across composers, editors, supervisors, and external partners

Take notes during calls and circulate follow-ups with action items

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of music licensing/clearance experience with a strong focus on project management and tracking

Negotiation experience and existing relationships with major labels and publishers

Strong organizational and communication skills; a self-starter who navigates ambiguity with calm and poise

Trustworthy and discreet in handling confidential information and high-profile artist relations

Bachelor's degree in Music Industry, Business Administration, or a related field

Fluent in English

Digital fluency in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and AirTable; DISCO experience a plus

Our target hourly rate for this role is between $24 to $28 per hour. We do not use formal job titles internally and similarly named positions may have different compensation levels. Actual starting salary within the range will depend on various considerations, including: work experience, skills, specializations, and training.
