Veterinary Nurse - Small Animal
Tullamore Pet Hospital | Co. Offaly
Full-time or Part-time, Permanent
Salary from €32,000 FTE per annum (DOE)
Are you a newly qualified Veterinary Nurse or an experienced RVN looking for a supportive team where you can continue to develop your skills?
At Tullamore Pet Hospital, we're excited to welcome a Veterinary Nurse to our friendly and progressive small animal practice. Whether you're a recent graduate building your confidence or a more experienced nurse seeking a varied and rewarding role, you'll be supported by an experienced team who are passionate about providing exceptional patient care and helping colleagues grow.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a close-knit team where your contribution is valued, your development is encouraged, and no two days are ever the same.
The Role
This is a hands-on nursing role offering excellent exposure to a broad range of medical and surgical cases. Part of the position involves anaesthesia monitoring and surgical preparation, providing a fantastic opportunity to strengthen your theatre and anaesthesia skills while working alongside an experienced clinical team.
You will also be involved in inpatient care, nurse consultations, medication administration, patient discharges, post-operative follow-up calls and maintaining the highest standards of hygiene and infection control throughout the practice. As a collaborative team, we all work together to ensure the smooth running of the hospital, so there may also be occasions where you'll support reception duties, assist with cattery responsibilities and contribute to the day-to-day operations of the practice. No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for a nurse who enjoys variety and being involved in every aspect of patient care.
About Tullamore Pet Hospital
Tullamore Pet Hospital is a purpose-built small animal hospital with a long-established reputation for excellent patient and client care. We are proud of the welcoming and supportive culture we have built and are looking for someone who will complement our existing team.
You will be joining a dedicated team of three Veterinary Surgeons, three Veterinary Nurses and three Receptionists who genuinely enjoy working together and supporting one another. Our practice benefits from excellent facilities, including digital imaging, in-house laboratory equipment and dedicated surgical facilities, enabling us to provide a high standard of care across a varied and interesting caseload.
Flexibility and Work-Life Balance
We understand that flexibility is important and are happy to consider both full-time and part-time applications. The full-time position is based on 40 hours per week, worked across four or five days, with shifts scheduled between 8.00am and 7.00pm.
For candidates seeking part-time hours, we are happy to discuss a working pattern that works for both you and the practice. There are no regular weekend requirements or out-of-hours commitments, allowing you to enjoy a healthy work-life balance while still being part of a busy and rewarding clinical environment.
About You
We are looking for a VCI Registered Veterinary Nurse, or a student nurse due to qualify and register in 2026, who is eager to develop their career within a supportive first-opinion practice.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering exceptional patient care, be confident handling animals and enjoy working closely with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for patients and clients. Previous experience would be welcomed but is not essential, as we are committed to supporting the right person in their professional development. Most importantly, we are looking for someone who shares our values of kindness, teamwork, professionalism and excellent clinical care.
