Be part of something special. Help us bring affordable, round-the-clock veterinary care to Hull.
Are you an experienced veterinary receptionist who wants to make a real difference to pets and the people who love them?
We’re incredibly excited to be bringing Animal Trust to Hull, with our brand-new hospital opening on 11 January 2027 . This is an exciting new chapter for Animal Trust as we expand into a new area, bringing our approach to accessible, affordable veterinary care to pets and their owners across Hull and the surrounding communities.
We’re looking for experienced Veterinary Receptionists to join us at this important time and help us establish our new hospital. As part of our opening team, you’ll play a vital role in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for clients and their pets from day one.
At Animal Trust, we’re a Community Interest Company with a clear purpose: putting pets before profit and ensuring pets can access the right care at the right time, without unnecessary financial barriers.
Why you matter
Our receptionists are the backbone of our hospitals. You’re often the first person a client speaks to when their pet is unwell, and the person helping them navigate what can sometimes be a worrying or emotional experience.
Working closely with our veterinary surgeons, nurses and wider hospital team, you’ll help ensure our clients feel listened to, supported and treated with compassion.
Working in a 24/7 hospital means no two days are the same. You’ll be part of a busy, varied environment where teamwork, communication and a calm, caring approach make a real difference.
Joining us as we open our Hull hospital gives you the opportunity to help shape the client experience, build relationships with your colleagues and become part of a team delivering a much-needed service to the local community.
What will you be doing?
Welcoming clients and their pets, providing a friendly, compassionate and professional first point of contact.
Answering telephone calls and responding to client enquiries.
Managing appointments, diaries and the day-to-day organisation of reception.
Registering new clients, processing payments and assisting with insurance and account queries.
Handling medication prepared by veterinary surgeons and handing it to clients in line with practice procedures.
Working closely with the clinical team to support the smooth running of the hospital.
Supporting clients who may be distressed, worried or facing difficult decisions about their pets, ensuring they receive empathy and appropriate support.
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation across reception, waiting areas and consultation rooms.
Restocking supplies and helping keep the hospital running efficiently.
Following health and safety, data protection and confidentiality procedures at all times.
You’ll bring:
Previous experience working in a veterinary reception role or similar environment.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
A calm, empathetic approach when supporting worried or upset clients.
The ability to work collaboratively with a wider clinical and non-clinical team.
Flexibility and a willingness to work a mixture of early and late shifts.
A genuine commitment to helping pets access the care they need.
