Warehouse Associate

The Warehouse Associate in Headingly, Manitoba, is responsible for processing customer orders in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining inventory integrity. This safety-sensitive role supports daily warehouse operations including material handling, order processing, and equipment operation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Material Handling: Safely operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move material and load/unload trucks.
  • Order Processing: Pick, package, and prepare material according to customer specifications and work orders.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate saw equipment (band saw, cold saw, etc.) to cut material accurately and efficiently.
  • Inventory Management: Receive stock, verify material, and put away in appropriate warehouse locations.
  • System Transactions: Receive stock, verify material, and put away in appropriate warehouse locations.
  • Safety Focus: Follow all safety procedures, perform daily equipment inspections, and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager to support warehouse operations and business needs.

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Education: A high school diploma is the minimum requirement. Post-secondary education in supply chain, logistics, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of experience in warehouse, manufacturing, or distribution experience, within a metals, manufacturing or industrial environment preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Experience in operating material handling equipment such as forklifts and overhead cranes. Experience operating saw equipment (band saw, cold saw, etc.) is considered an asset. Basic computer proficiency (MS Office – Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience using ERP systems for order processing and inventory transactions. Proficiency using measuring devices and reading work orders preferred.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail and safety awareness; ability to follow instructions and work independently; effective communication and teamwork skills; ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

  • Attention to Detail: High accuracy in order picking, material verification, and following customer specifications.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong commitment to workplace safety, including proper equipment use and adherence to safety procedures.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with warehouse staff and supervisors to support efficient operations.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify material discrepancies, equipment issues, and workflow challenges and escalate as needed.

Typical Working Conditions

  • Environment: Warehouse-based, within a branch or industrial facility setting.
  • Hours: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. Occasional overtime may be required based on operational needs.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs); operating material handling equipment; repetitive motions; exposure to varying warehouse temperatures and industrial conditions.

Compensation Information - $22.50 to $28.85 per hour, based on experience
