1st Shift Mill Operator

Description

Job Purpose:

To set up and operate milling machine to mill external surfaces of metal tools.

Essential Functions:

• •Positions and secures product in fixture or feeding machine, starts machine, and feeds product to cutter to meet required specifications. May manipulate controls to adjust feed rate of product or cutting tool; and many control direct flow of coolant against cutter and product.
• •Performs minor maintenance activities on mill, such as changing worn cutters, and verifies conformance of work to specifications.
• •Loads and unloads tools into carts and transports to appropriate staging area for next manufacturing process.
• •Completes the appropriate routing sheet and inputs data entry information in a timely manner.

Additional Responsibilities:

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience:

Six months of related experience, on-the-job training, or equivalent.

Physical:

• •Must be able to walk and stand at equipment for 8 hours or more per day.
• •Must be able to use both hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms.
• •Must be able to frequently lift up to 10 pounds and/or move up to 100 pounds.
• •Must have close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus on work.
• •Employees will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, high noise levels, and vibration to hands.
• •Employees will be required to wear hearing protection, safety glasses and foot protection.

Mental:

• •Must have the ability to read and comprehend simple written and verbal instructions and procedure manuals.
• •Must be able to perform mathematical skills such as: addition, subtractions, multiplication, and division of all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; and ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• •Must have the ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
