Overview & Responsibilities

Our 10-week summer Internship Program seeks to hire ambitious, enthusiastic candidates who have strong mathematical, quantitative backgrounds and coding skills, with demonstrated passion for markets and an interest to work on all facets of Trading.

Our Internship Program starts with one week of in-depth training to prepare interns for the desk.

This covers a range of topics relating to Financial Markets including Macroeconomics, FX, Digital Assets, Interest Rate Derivatives, Equity Rates, Bonds, Credit and Fixed Income, Trading Strategies, Risk Management, Excel and Python.

Additionally, interns will benefit from key talks, a mentor program, social events and interactions with some of the most respected and talented individuals in their field.

During the program, interns will gain direct exposure to multiple teams globally across the systematic business, with a particular focus on trading, including execution trading, execution research and portfolio financing. By working closely with traders, interns will be able to gain valuable experience working in a fast-paced environment. They will also be given access to the latest technology and large amounts of data.

This internship is devised to provide candidates with an invaluable education on the workings of a macro hedge fund and the regulatory environment through a two-way process to determine if Brevan Howard and the intern are a compatible fit.

The goal of our summer internship program is to convert top performing interns to our 2028 Graduate Program.

The Team - Systematic Trading

Every systematic strategy at the firm reaches the market through our platform. You will work with the central execution services team, who deliver efficient equities trading for portfolio managers through the systematic platform across different markets globally.

What You’ll Do

Obtain insights into trading activity across multiple regions and events

Solve optimisation problems requiring sophisticated mathematical techniques, a strong Python ability and a solid understanding of business objectives

Create real systems that improve day-to-day trading activity

Conduct independent research and communicate effectively to guide decision making

Qualifications & Requirements

A penultimate year undergraduate / junior or 1st year Master’s student at a recognized University and on course for a minimum of a 2:1 / 3.6 GPA – completed and awarded before July 2028

Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Data Science, Mathematics or another STEM related subject.

Strong mathematic, quantitative and problem-solving capabilities

Programming experience in Python

A demonstrated interest and passion for financial markets, trading, and financial products

Can work independently and collaboratively as part of a team

Entrepreneurial spirit

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Can prioritize, manage and deliver on multiple projects

Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail
