32 hours per week; 11p-7:30a with rotating weekends and holidays

Job Description:

  • Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Under the general management and supervision of the Nurse Manager and/or direction of the Registered Nurse, performs a variety of activities that include, but are not limited to,
  • o Direct and continuous observation of patient at a distance no greater than arm’s length from patient.
  • o Participates in patient rounding as and when directed by the Registered Nurse
  • o Ensures environmental safety for patient
  • o Answers call lights and ensures patient care issues are directed to the Registered Nurse
  • o Restocking department supplies and precautions stations
  • o Transports patients within the department and to in-hospital locations as needed.
  • o Clean patient equipment following the designated process
  • o Completes patient safety sitter competency
  • o Completes all required documentation for patient care
  • o Communicates any and all changes in patient behavior to the Registered Nurse
  • o Involved as directed with quality improvement studies and activities specific to the unit.
  • o Considers specific cultural beliefs and practices when caring for patients. Utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency
  • o Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules and regulations as set forth by appropriate regulatory and governmental agencies and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policy and procedure.

Education/Experience Required:

High School diploma/GED/or enrolled and near completion of High School Health Sciences program.

Registration/Certification:

  • Basic Life Support current certification required within 3 months of hire
  • Completes Hospital approved de-escalation training during unit based orientation.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

Pay Range:

$17.69 - $28.22

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
