About Us

At We. , we've spent decades at the intersection of technology and humanity, bridging the gap between what businesses create and how people experience those creations. We've learned that beneath even the most unruly situations — whether it's a global crisis, an emerging technology, or a sweeping organizational change—lies a simple human need. That need could be for trust, connection, safety, or a sense of purpose. But it’s always there. And it is only by uncovering these truths that we can make real, meaningful progress.

About the Role

We're looking for an Account Director to serve as the AI lead for a leading global technology company. This person will be the strategic owner of the client's AI communications program. That means shaping how the company's AI story shows up in the market, running launches from start to finish, and acting as a trusted counselor to senior client stakeholders.

The right candidate lives and breathes the AI space. They know the players, follow the news cycle closely, and can explain where the client fits in a market that changes week to week. They bring their own relationships with tech and business media. They're comfortable working in a highly matrixed environment, lining up product, marketing, corporate communications, and executive teams around one narrative. They lead with a point of view, handle day-to-day client management with confidence, and build and grow a high-performing team.

Note: This role is open only to candidates residing in the Pacific or Mountain time zones.

Responsibilities

Lead communications strategy for the client's AI business and act as the go-to strategic counselor for senior client stakeholders

Track the AI landscape, including competitors, emerging players, industry shifts, and policy conversations, and turn it into clear recommendations and narrative positioning

Plan and run product launches from start to finish including messaging, sequencing, media and analyst briefings, embargo management, reviewer programs, and post-launch amplification

Drive news and storytelling around major industry moments and flagship events, including stories that go beyond the product news

Build and maintain relationships with senior tech, business and AI-focused reporters, analysts, newsletter writers, and podcast hosts; develop, review and pitch stories

Gather feedback from media and industry voices on how the client and its competitors are perceived, and use it to sharpen strategy

Navigate a matrixed client organization, lining up multiple product teams, marketing, corporate comms, and executive stakeholders around a single AI narrative

Coordinate across agency practices, geographies, and specialty teams (e.g., social, influencer, measurement, creative) to deliver integrated programs

Prepare executive spokespeople for interviews, briefings, and speaking opportunities, and support their external visibility, including social

Anticipate issues and reputational risks specific to AI (such as trust, ethics, and competitive pressure) and counsel clients on how to respond

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

5-7+ years of experience in integrated communications or PR, ideally in an agency setting, with significant time spent on technology clients; 4+ years of people management experience required

Hands-on experience leading communications for AI, emerging tech, or enterprise/consumer technology products

A proven track record of managing major product launches and flagship event moments

Established relationships with top-tier tech and business media

Global network experience preferred

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Outlook, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

Fluency in the AI ecosystem, including major platforms, model providers, startups, and the key voices shaping the conversation, and the ability to explain what it all means for a client

A strong strategic point of view and the confidence to push back and lead clients toward the right answer

A history of proactively landing stories with reporters and analysts, not just responding to requests

Experience working in large, matrixed organizations with many stakeholders and competing priorities

A creative mindset, with the ability to find stories that don't depend on product news

Strong presentation and consulting skills; experience pitching new business and presenting to senior executives

Experience building or growing a team

Experience working globally or with colleagues in multiple locations

Comfort in a fast-paced environment with frequent tight deadlines and shifting priorities

Client service orientation is a must
