The Hilb Group is currently seeking a motivated and ambitious Employee Benefits Account Executive to join our team. This position will report to our agency located in Hunt Valley, MD. The ideal candidate will be motivated to succeed, is well organized, able to prioritize, and able to work well with a team. This can be a hybrid or in-office position.
Responsibilities:
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned employee benefits clients.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with HR leaders, executives, and key decision-makers.
- Conduct regular client meetings, renewal reviews, and strategic planning sessions.
- Identify opportunities to improve benefit offerings and enhance employee engagement.
Benefits Strategy & Consulting
- Develop and recommend employee benefits strategies aligned with clients' business objectives.
- Analyze benefits utilization, cost trends, and market conditions.
- Help guide clients through compliance requirements, including ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.
- Assist in presenting renewal options, benchmarking data, and financial analyses.
Sales & Business Development
- Retain and expand existing client relationships.
- Identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities within assigned accounts.
- Support new business development efforts and participate in prospect presentations.
- Collaborate with carriers and internal teams to develop competitive benefit solutions.
Renewal & Market Analysis
- Lead annual renewal processes from strategy through implementation.
- Negotiate with insurance carriers to secure favorable rates and plan designs.
- Monitor market trends and emerging benefit solutions.
Team Collaboration
- Partner with Consultants, Account Managers, Client Service Representatives, and Benefits Analysts to deliver exceptional client experiences.
- Coordinate with carriers, vendors, and consultants to resolve client issues.
- Mentor junior team members as needed.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance, Insurance, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 3–7+ years of experience in employee benefits, insurance brokerage, consulting, or account management.
- Proven experience managing mid-market and/or large-group employee benefits accounts.
- Experience with medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits programs.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of employee benefits products and insurance markets.
- Knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and related compliance regulations.
- Exceptional relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and agency management systems.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Licenses & Certifications
- Active Health & Life Insurance License required.
- CEBS, GBA, RHU, or similar professional designation preferred.

Compensation:
$175,000 - $200,000/yr.
