Position Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and financial activities of the casino operation, ensuring financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, reported, and maintained in accordance with established policies, procedures, and applicable requirements.
The Accountant will support full-cycle accounting, month-end and year-end processes, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, audit preparation, and internal controls. The position works closely with the Corporate Controller, Casino Operations, Payroll, Human Resources, and other departments to maintain accurate financial information and support effective business decision-making.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Perform full-cycle accounting activities for casino operations.
Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts.
Complete bank, balance sheet, revenue, expense, and other account reconciliations.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes and ensure required schedules are completed accurately and on time.
Review and reconcile casino revenues, expenses, and other financial transactions.
Process and review invoices, payments, employee expenses, and other accounting transactions.
Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as required.
Investigate accounting discrepancies and coordinate with the appropriate departments to resolve issues.
Assist in preparing monthly financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
Prepare financial and operational variance analyses and provide explanations where required.
Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
Prepare supporting documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.
Support compliance with CRA requirements, company policies, established internal controls, and applicable casino financial procedures.
Maintain complete, accurate, and organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
Assist in monitoring financial controls and identifying opportunities to strengthen accounting processes.
Support the implementation of accounting system improvements, process changes, and other Finance initiatives.
Work collaboratively with Casino Operations, Payroll, Human Resources, and other departments on accounting and financial matters.
Maintain confidentiality of financial, employee, and business information.
Perform other accounting and Finance-related duties as assigned by the Corporate Controller.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration , or a related field.
CPA designation or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset.
Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience .
Previous accounting experience within a casino, gaming, hospitality, entertainment, or other regulated environment is considered an asset.
Demonstrated experience with full-cycle accounting, journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Experience with month-end and year-end closing processes.
Experience supporting internal or external audits and regulatory or tax compliance is an asset.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting and financial software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive financial information with professionalism and discretion.
