Looking for an Accounting Manager who will Own and lead India accounting operations, transition processes in-house, strengthen financial controls, ensure accurate statutory compliance and reporting, and build a scalable local finance function aligned with global standards
Role Overview:
● Lead the transition of day-to-day accounting activities from the external provider into Arrive, ensuring continuity, clear ownership, effective knowledge transfer and minimal disruption.
● Own India entity accounting, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, reconciliations and month-end/year-end close.
● Ensure timely and accurate local statutory reporting and compliance, including GST, TDS, income tax, transfer pricing and applicable Companies Act, MCA and FEMA requirements.
● Prepare and maintain accurate financial records under Indian accounting requirements and support IFRS-aligned reporting for Group Finance and consolidation.
● Establish and maintain documented finance processes, standard operating procedures, approval matrices, banking protocols and internal controls.
● Coordinate statutory and tax audits, external advisors, banking partners and relevant regulatory stakeholders; ensure audit evidence and filings are complete and on time.
● Support cash-flow forecasting, working capital monitoring and local treasury activities, escalating material risks and exceptions to Group Finance.
● Partner with Group Finance Leadership to implement the India finance operating model and support the planned expansion of finance capabilities, including potential Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report and Order-to-Cash activities.
● As the function grows, support hiring, onboarding and development of the local finance team; establish clear workflows, service expectations and performance measures.
● Identify opportunities to simplify, standardise and automate finance activities, improving accuracy, efficiency, transparency and audit readiness.
Requirements:
Around 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting, controllership or entity finance, with at least 3 years of team leadership, process ownership or responsibility for a finance function. Candidates with strong hands-on India accounting and compliance experience in multinational companies, global capability centres, shared services or professional-services environments are encouraged to apply.
● Qualification: CA, CMA, CPA or ACCA preferred. Candidates with an MBA/ M.Com in Finance or equivalent qualification may also be considered where they bring strong, directly relevant accounting, statutory compliance and controllership experience.
● Strong working knowledge of Indian accounting standards / Ind AS and statutory accounting requirements; practical exposure to IFRS reporting or group consolidation is highly desirable.
● Hands-on experience with Indian statutory and tax compliance, including GST, TDS, income tax, transfer pricing and relevant Companies Act requirements. Familiarity with MCA filings and FEMA requirements is an advantage.
● Demonstrated ownership of general ledger, account reconciliations, month-end/year-end close, financial statements and audit coordination.
● Experience working with external accounting, tax or audit providers and managing vendor deliverables, service quality and issue resolution. Direct experience leading an insourcing or transition project is an advantage, rather than a prerequisite.
● Experience establishing or improving finance processes, SOPs, internal controls, approval workflows and audit documentation.
● Hands-on experience with an ERP or accounting platform such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle or Microsoft Dynamics. NetSuite experience and ERP implementation/localisation exposure are advantages, but experience with one specific system is not mandatory.
● Ability to work independently in a growing environment, balancing day-to-day accounting delivery with process improvement and team-building activities.
● Strong written and verbal English communication, with the ability to work effectively with Group Finance, external advisors and stakeholders across countries.
● High standards of integrity, accuracy, ownership, organisation and follow-through.
Key Competencies:
● Transition and change management: able to structure knowledge transfer, manage dependencies and stabilise new ways of working.
● Ownership and judgement: comfortable taking responsibility for accounting outcomes, resolving issues and escalating risks appropriately.
● Stakeholder collaboration: able to work constructively with Group Finance, external providers, auditors and internal teams.
● Process and control mindset: committed to accurate records, documented procedures, compliance and continuous improvement.
● Team development: able to share knowledge, set clear expectations and help build a capable local finance team.
