Description

Howard Shockey & Sons is a third-generation, family-owned general contractor that has been building across Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia since 1896. We’re hiring an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team.

What you’ll do: You’ll run day-to-day accounting, including month-end close, job cost accounting, financial reporting, and reconciliations. The role supports our construction operations, real estate holdings, and development projects, and you’ll work closely with leadership on budgeting, cash flow, and project financial analysis.

What we’re looking for:

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in one or more of these areas:
  • Real Estate: property accounting, lease administration, CAM reconciliations, and asset-level financial reporting
  • Development: development budgets, capitalized project costs, draw requests, and entity/partnership accounting
  • Construction: job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
  • Experience supervising or leading a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA strongly preferred
