Description

This position is 32.5 hours per week, Monday- Friday. Flexibility to be in person or hybrid.

Position Summary: The primary focus of this role is Accounts Receivable (AR), handling all daily financial transactions for the healthcare facility by tracking and posting patient and insurance revenue. To ensure operational continuity to provide critical coverage for department vacations, illnesses, and high-volume workflow overflows, you will also be fully trained in Accounts Payable (AP) paying medical suppliers, service providers, and vendors accurately and on time

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of general accounting, AR, or AP experience, preferably within a hospital, clinic, or medical office setting.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, filtering, data sorting), ten-key data entry, Adobe Acrobat (combining documents, splitting pages, and digital signing) and the broader Microsoft platform (Word, Outlook, Teams). Knowledge of computerized accounting software or ERP systems and basic medical billing systems is a plus.
  • Strong numerical accuracy and a keen eye for finding inconsistencies in large volume of financial transactions.
  • Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, verbal communication skills, and the ability to resolve discrepancies professionally.

Requirements

Essential Functions of the Position:

Primary Role: Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Review and post daily high-volume payments, including ACH, wire transfers, patient payments, insurance remittances, and credit cards into our Cerner EHR (Electronic Health Record) patient accounting system.
  • Process insurance payments and patient copays accurately within the patient accounting system.
  • Verify transaction data against bank records to ensure all processed payments match actual funds received.
  • Collect payment records from various internal departments to reconcile external collections with system logs.
  • Reconcile daily transactions and financial activity for entire facility to ensure zero discrepancies at the close of each business day

Cross-Trained Role: Accounts Payable (AP) Support

  • Execute full accounts payable duties during team vacations, illnesses, or periods of high volume.
  • Code, verify, and input vendor and medical supply invoices into the Multiview ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and respond professionally to payment inquiries.

Compliance & Office Operations

  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient financial information and vendor contracts.
  • Adhere strictly to HIPAA and internal healthcare accounting controls.
  • Maintain spreadsheets to track financial metrics and data points.
