Description

Accounts Receivable Specialist

Lewiston, ME | $27.00–$31.00/hour | Full-Time | Onsite | Benefits Starting Day One

Keep the Numbers Moving—and Help the Business Move With Them

Accounts receivable is about more than processing invoices. It’s about keeping customer accounts accurate, resolving issues quickly, supporting healthy cash flow, and building strong working relationships across the business.

Elmet Technologies is looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our Finance team in Lewiston, Maine. In this role, you’ll support our manufacturing operations in Maine, Ohio, and Michigan while managing important parts of the customer billing and receivables process.

You’ll process and verify invoices, communicate with customers about past-due accounts, help manage credit decisions and account holds, and work across Elmet to resolve customer account issues.

If you’re organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and willing to dig into a problem until it’s resolved, this could be a great next step.

What’s In It for You

  • $27.00–$31.00 per hour
  • Benefits starting Day One, including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Tuition assistance
  • Professional development and internal growth opportunities
  • A role supporting manufacturing operations across three Elmet locations
  • Opportunity to work with a growing Finance team focused on collaboration and process improvement
  • Exposure to customer accounts, credit management, collections, and cross-functional financial operations

What You’ll Do

As an Accounts Receivable Specialist, you’ll help ensure invoices are accurate, customer accounts stay current, and issues are resolved efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Organize and process daily customer invoices
  • Deliver invoices through email, customer portals, physical mail, and other required channels
  • Verify customer invoices for validity and accuracy before processing
  • Communicate directly with customers regarding past-due balances and payment arrangements
  • Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding receivables
  • Place or release sales orders from credit or shipping holds when appropriate
  • Pull and review credit reports to support decisions regarding customer credit limits and payment terms within company policies
  • Investigate and resolve customer account disputes
  • Partner with Finance and other internal departments across Elmet’s Maine, Ohio, and Michigan operations to resolve billing and account issues
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to customer accounts and receivables
  • Identify opportunities to improve the accuracy and efficiency of accounts receivable processes
  • Support the Director of Accounting and Finance team with additional responsibilities as needed

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a strong fit for this position if you bring:

  • 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with customers regarding payments, disputes, and account issues

Experience working with ERP software is beneficial.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Success in this role means helping Elmet maintain accurate customer accounts while keeping receivables moving. You’ll make an impact by:

  • Processing accurate and timely customer invoices
  • Helping reduce past-due receivables through consistent customer follow-up
  • Resolving account discrepancies before they become larger problems
  • Helping ensure appropriate credit and shipping decisions
  • Providing responsive, professional communication to customers
