Acquisition Officer
Location: Yorkshire and Humberside
Salary up to £37,597.46 per annum plus company car or car allowance
Contract: Full time – Permanent, 40hrs per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 17.00pm
Mears provides temporary accommodation to asylum seekers whilst their claim is being assessed in three regions: Northeast, Yorkshire and Humber, Northern Ireland, and Scotland. At the end of May 2021 Mears had over 19000 service users across the three regions. Mears work in partnership with central and local Government, registered providers, tenants, landlords and investors to find solutions to homelessness, provide more social and affordable housing and create specialist housing for people with care needs.
About the Role:
Are you experienced in property acquisition and looking for a role where you can make a real impact? We are looking for an Acquisition Officer to join our Housing Management team, sourcing high-quality residential properties across Yorkshire and Humberside to support the delivery of key government contracts. This is a homebased role with regular travel to networking events, team meetings and property visits.
As an Acquisition Officer, you will build strong relationships with landlords, agents, developers and other stakeholders to secure suitable properties. You will negotiate acquisitions, manage property pipelines and ensure properties meet required standards, helping deliver successful outcomes for service users and the business.
As an Acquisition Officer, you will be responsible for identifying and securing residential properties that meet contractual requirements, quality standards and budget expectations. You will manage relationships with landlords and industry contacts, maintain accurate records and ensure properties are ready within agreed timescales.
- Attend networking events, team meetings and property visits
- Source residential properties across Yorkshire and Humberside
- Develop relationships with landlords, agents, developers and other stakeholders
- Negotiate property acquisitions to secure the best value outcomes
- Meet performance targets for property acquisition volumes and purchase prices
- Ensure acquired properties meet required standards and documentation requirements
- Support the progression of properties from offer acceptance through to completion
- Maintain accurate property pipeline information and system records
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across Housing Management teams
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and contractual obligations
- Support ad hoc projects and provide cover where required
Role Criteria:
- Demonstrate experience in property sales or lettings
- Show excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Have a strong telephone manor
- Can do attitude
- Confident in communicating to all levels
- Hold a full UK driving licence for travel and property visits

As part of the recruitment process for this role, we will carry out a Background, Identity, Security clearance & BPSS check. For these checks to be completed, we will require from you the relevant identification, including Proof of Address, References, a valid passport and proof that you have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.
