At Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi our Actuarial team is at the forefront of evaluating healthcare risk, predicting medical cost trends and ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of our patient care models. We are seeking two motivated students to join our Actuarial Team.

As an Actuarial intern, you will assist actuarial personnel in analyzing vast amounts of data to aid in the development and monitoring of rating formulas and factors, product monitoring and pricing, as well as claim reserving and trending. This internship offers an exceptional opportunity to apply theoretical statistical modeling to real-world healthcare data which directly supports our pricing, reserving and strategic planning efforts.

The program duration is scheduled for 10-12 weeks, during the months of June, July and August of 2027. The positions are in offices at our Flowood, Mississippi campus and are paid.

What You’ll Do:

• •Gain exposure to Actuarial functions of pricing, calculating reserves, trend analysis, and healthcare economics.
• •Extract and clean claims data for actuarial analysis.
• •Prepare exhibits and memos for senior leadership according to actuarial documentation standards.
• •Work alongside analysts and credentialed Actuaries on day-to-day operational activities.

Job-Specific Requirements:

• •Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, actuarial science, statistics or related course of study where a strong mathematical background is necessary with at least a Junior level academic standing by the end of Spring 2027.
• •GPA of 3.25 or higher is required.
• •Possess strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications:

Enrolled in a Mississippi based College or University or Mississippi resident.
