Inspire the Next Generation of Drafters and Designers at Indian River State College!

Are you passionate about architectural and engineering drafting and ready to share your expertise with the future workforce? Indian River State College is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable instructor to join our team and lead engaging, hands-on courses in drafting and design. JOB SUMMARY:

Under general direction, this position provides classroom instruction and course supervision within the designated department. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality lectures and labs, developing program curricula, and supporting student success through effective use of the college’s Learning Management System. Promote the program, building and maintain industry partnerships, coordinating advisory board meetings, and contribute to continuing education and workforce training initiatives. Engages in community outreach, fosters an inclusive learning environment, and upholds the college’s mission to deliver workforce-ready education in technical and skilled trades. Professionalism, innovation, and adherence to academic standards and ethics are essential to this role.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver instruction for assigned drafting courses in accordance with course outlines, learning objectives, and institutional standards
  • Evaluate and grade student assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects in a timely and consistent manner
  • Submit final course grades along with grade justification sheets in compliance with college policies
  • Maintain scheduled office hours to provide academic support and advising to students
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment, promoting student engagement and academic success
  • Participate in department, division, and adjunct faculty meetings as required
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, or a Master’s degree and 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering
  • Architectural and Engineering Drafting experience is required
  • Extensive working experience using AutoCAD and other industry software;
  • Ability to recognize and respond to the individual differences of students from a culturally diverse student population;
  • A willingness to make students active partners in the teaching and or learning process are also required;
  • All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association

of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical requirements for this position include: Ability to regularly lift and or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; Ability to safely lift, hold, and carry up to 50 pounds of supplies and/or equipment needed for student training; Manual dexterity and balance required for demonstrating applications; Demonstration of appropriate skills as required by curriculum and standards; Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time, walk, bend, lift, reach with hands and arms, and stoop; Ability to maintain and/or troubleshoot all lab equipment in the lab; Ability to bend down and get on knees while performing different techniques; Ability to present verbal lectures/demonstrations; Vision abilities sufficient to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus; Excellent Hand-Eye coordination skills required to demonstrate appropriate skills required of the program; Ability to travel to and pick up miscellaneous supplies from local vendors for materials for student training and make good purchasing decisions or substitutions; Physically demonstrate new and unique methods and materials; IRSC expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
