Job Description

The Admissions Recruiter, under general supervision, identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students. Serves as a mentor, coordinates travel schedules and assignments, and develops recruiting plans.

• Responsibilities:
• -Identifies, recruits, and contributes to increasing the population of admitted, enrolled, and underrepresented students.
• -Develops an effective plan for recruiting in the assigned area(s) and schools.
• -Coordinates with high school counselors to facilitate the applications process.
• -Tracks and follows up with targeted students and parents.
• -Advises prospective students about admissions statuses, policies, and office programs.
• -Develops working relationships with TAMUS members, departments, counselors, and advisors to enhance customer service and satisfaction. Disseminates admissions information.
• -Conducts on and off campus public speaking and maintains related records.
• -Reviews admission applications and assists in conducting third reviews of applications.
• -Works directly with applicants and their parents to resolve extenuating circumstances, complaints, and appeals of admissions denials.
• -Completes reports on programs/projects. Proposes, organizes, plans and coordinates events including accommodations, itineraries, meals, speakers, and records.
• -Coordinates major office programs. Serves on office committees.

• Education and Experience:
• -Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• -One year of related experience.
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• -Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Knowledge of admissions functions of higher education.
• -Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Starting salary for this position is $3,657.33 monthly and is negotiable depending on education and experience.

Setting: Texas A&M University-Victoria is the most recent addition to the Texas A&M University System. The University was founded in 1973 as part of the University of Houston System and was transferred to the Texas A&M University System during the 89th Texas Legislative Session. A&M-Victoria is the only four-year university in a 100-mile radius and is just 30 miles from the Texas Gulf Coast.
