After-School Tutor

Description

Schaumburg Christian School is seeking responsible and motivated high school students to serve as After-School Tutors. This position provides an opportunity for students to support younger learners academically while gaining valuable leadership and teaching experience.

• •Pay: Starts at $20 per hour
• •Employment: Part-time, based on student needs and tutor availability

Requirements

• •Provide academic support and assistance to assigned students.
• •Prepare for and actively engage students during tutoring sessions.
• •Maintain a professional, responsible, and encouraging environment.
• •Communicate any concerns regarding student progress or tutoring needs to the Schaumburg Christian Tutoring Coordinator.
• •Submit a completed pay chart twice per month listing all tutoring sessions in order to receive payment

Student Assignment

The Schaumburg Christian Tutoring Coordinator will match students with available tutors based on:

• •The academic needs of the student
• •The tutor's strengths and qualifications
• •Tutor availability
• •Student scheduling needs

Tutors should provide the days and times they are available to tutor so appropriate student matches can be made.

Student Tutor Qualifications and Approval

If current SCS Student, to be considered for this position, applicants must:

• •Be a current SCS high school student.
• •Demonstrate responsibility, maturity, and strong academic skills.
• •Receive approval from their teachers.
• •Receive final approval from the High School Principal.
• •Be willing to commit to scheduled tutoring sessions and communicate promptly regarding any scheduling conflicts.

Non-Student Tutor Qualifications

If NOT a current SCS Student, to be considered for this position, applicants must:

• •Be 18 years or older
• •Must hold a GED or High School Diploma
• •Teaching experience encouraged; current teaching license preferred
• •Demonstrates content mastery
• •Cultivates a meaningful relationship with students that help student grow academically and spiritually
• •Affirms Bethel’s statements of faith
• •Affirmance of being a born-again Christian
• •Will serve as an example of Christ’s love
• •Lives according to Bethel’s biblical standards
• •Regular church attendance and involvement in a church that is like-faith

Payment and Parent Billing

Parents will be billed directly for tutoring services through their school bill. Tutors will be paid starting at $20 per hour based on the tutoring sessions documented on their submitted bi-monthly pay chart.
