Reports to: Director of Food and Beverage

Job Overview: At Alberta Street Coffee, we take pride in offering more than just great coffee; we aim to provide a memorable experience for every guest. We are seeking enthusiastic and friendly Baristas to join our team and contribute to creating a positive and inviting atmosphere. As a Barista, you will be responsible for crafting delicious coffee drinks, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and delivering outstanding customer service.

Job Description: As a Barista at Alberta Street Coffee, you will play a key role in ensuring that every customer leaves with a smile. Your responsibilities will include preparing and serving a variety of coffee and espresso drinks, handling transactions, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and organization of the café. You will work closely with your team to foster a friendly and engaging environment that reflects our commitment to quality and community.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers warmly and provide excellent service, ensuring a positive and personalized experience.
  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and other beverages according to our recipes and standards.
  • Operate coffee machines and equipment efficiently, maintaining quality and consistency in every drink.
  • Handle cash and card transactions accurately, providing correct change and processing payments promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including the coffee bar, and seating areas.
  • Replenish inventory of coffee beans, milk, syrups, and other supplies as needed.
  • Assist with baking and food preparation, including pastries and light snacks, as required.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues or complaints in a professional manner.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling and sanitation procedures. (Oregon Food Handlers Card required for this role)
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth café operations and a friendly, cooperative work environment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a customer service role, preferably in a coffee shop or food service environment.
  • Passion for coffee and a strong interest in learning about different brewing techniques and beverage styles.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage positively with customers and colleagues.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
