What You’ll Do

Under the direction of the CS Coordinator and ASC Administrator, works independently to maintain facility CS, surgical SPD, and endoscopy SPD goals. Provides supplies to necessary areas, processes instruments for internal and external use, and serves as a back-up to the CS Coordinator to mirror those duties and responsibilities. Ensures compliance occurs in all CS and SPD areas that follow Freeman, state, and federal standards.

Essential Functions

Works as sterile processing technician to assess instrument integrity, clean, sterilize, and report repairs or items needing replaced. Follows all rules and regulations regarding instrument and endoscopy sterilization.

Prepares, assembles and delivers sterile instruments to perioperative services for patient's surgical procedures.

Under the direction of the CS Coordinator, maintains proper inventory management, ensures areas are stocked adequately, performs correct inventory transactions, conducts daily cycle counts to ensure quantity on hand, and reviews purchase orders thoroughly to guarantee no overstock of supplies resulting in waste. Additionally, coordinates timely replacement of expired or absent consignment products, and coordinates implementation of conversion and new product into inventories accurately.

Maintains appropriate levels of supplies in outlying departments within the facility.

Rotates supplies, decreasing expirations, and/or linens to improve cleanliness according to CS procedure.

Responsible for ordering stock and non-stock supplies, instrumentation, and equipment.

Monitors equipment electrical cords, electrical outlets, lighting, and other environmental items and activities for damage or defects. Arranges for repair or recommends for replacement of those items. Monitors floors, walls, and other areas and ensures reporting and repair is performed in a timely fashion.

Serves as a back up to the CS Coordinator and works in conjunction with similar but limited job duties.

Requirements

Knowledge of basic computer functions and systems.

Must have working knowledge of inventory management.

Must have basic knowledge of sterile processing (surgical and endoscopy) and basic knowledge of central supply.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform this job are usually obtained with experience in central supply and sterile processing of at least 1 year.

Clean driving record.

Current driver's license.
