We believe, and research shows, that student and stakeholder feedback matters for school improvement and student success. That’s why, in 2008, we created YouthTruth – to help educators harness student and stakeholder feedback to accelerate improvements. We’ve heard from almost three million students as well as hundreds of thousands of family and staff members across 39 states. When you join YouthTruth, you join a small and collaborative team that has a big impact on schools across the U.S. and the education sector.

YouthTruth’s Data Systems and Analytics team owns our survey and reporting products from end to end. As an Analyst, you will help build and maintain this product suite, using software tools to turn student survey results into accurate, timely reports that help educators improve. You will partner with colleagues to ensure every product meets a high standard of quality before it reaches clients, and you will work directly with district and school leaders to help them understand and act on their data.

The Ideal Candidate:

You are highly organized, analytical, and detail-oriented. You consistently produce high-quality, error-free work and complete tasks on time with quality and accuracy.

You have a deep interest in and passion for education, and a belief in student voice as a powerful tool to make important changes in education.

You learn new tools, systems, and skills quickly, and you're curious about how AI tools can make work faster and better, while bringing the judgment to verify their output and know when not to use them.

You notice where a process breaks down or a product falls short, and you enjoy finding ways to improve it.

You are flexible, adaptable, and reliable in a fast-paced environment.

You are able to manage multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously.

Your interpersonal and communication skills allow you to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization as well as with clients and external contacts, including explaining data clearly to non-technical audiences.

You enjoy using data to tell clear, compelling stories, and you're excited to help shape the data visualizations and tools we offer clients.

What You’ll Do:

You will work closely with YouthTruth's energetic and diverse staff to deliver our survey and reporting products to district leaders and school principals, giving them data-driven insights to enhance their effectiveness. More specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:

Survey Administration & Reporting (70%)

Co-manage survey administration and the monthly report production cycle

Build and launch online surveys for clients on tight deadlines

Produce data-driven reports for clients in our online interactive reporting platform

Own quality assurance for surveys and reports, including automated and AI-assisted checks, so every product that reaches a client is accurate

Troubleshoot and resolve operational and client issues, and support clients in using our tools and interpreting their data

Process and Product Development (20%)

Develop, review, and maintain scripts and tools in Python, R, or other technologies to automate and optimize data analysis and reporting

Use AI tools, such as coding assistants and large language models, to speed up development, streamline workflows, and support tasks like summarizing open-ended survey responses, always with human review for accuracy and data privacy

Gather client feedback and recurring support issues, and turn them into recommendations for new features, process improvements, and product enhancements

Help refine survey instruments and reports, and contribute to new product development to meet school and district needs

Document processes and contribute to the team's playbooks and internal knowledge base

Other (10%)

Track and analyze internal product and operational metrics, such as delivery timelines, quality, and client usage, to inform team decisions

Provide insights and analysis for strategic projects, marketing efforts, and internal research

Collaborate with Partnerships Leads and other teams to stay responsive to client needs, and contribute actively to cross-team projects and discussions

Your Background, Experiences, and Interests:

College degree (B.S., B.A.) or equivalent, and some work experience required

Experience with computer programming in Python and SQL required. These languages form the basis of our surveying and reporting processes.

Strong interest in and experience with analyzing and interpreting data, and proficiency in basic statistics

Experience with data visualization or BI tools, survey platforms, and client-facing support. These skills can be learned on the job, but we're especially looking for candidates who bring strength in one or more of these areas.

Experience using AI tools (such as Claude Code or GitHub Copilot) in your work or studies, and an understanding of their limitations, including accuracy and data privacy considerations

Comfort with ambiguity and ability to remain flexible in response to the business needs of a rapidly growing team

A work ethic consistent with the CEP/YouthTruth organizational culture: thoughtful; committed to client confidentiality and responsible data use; builds equity and inclusion into the substance of their work.

While all CEP staff are at-will employees, due to an in-depth training period at the start of every Analyst’s tenure, our expectation is that analysts will stay in the role for a minimum of two years, assuming satisfactory performance.
