The Role
Kyndryl is seeking an experienced Application Support Engineer (ASE) to provide L2/L3 production support and application maintenance for mission-critical banking applications within the application landscape. The role supports Run the Bank services across business applications, JVM and microservice-based solutions, core banking and payment platforms, data services, digital channels, middleware integrations, databases, schedulers and third-party products.
The engineer will be responsible for application availability, incident restoration, problem analysis, service requests, operational monitoring, release and deployment support, planned and unplanned maintenance, configuration and lifecycle control, resiliency validation, compliance evidence and continuous improvement. The role requires close collaboration with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Development Engineers, Operations and Platform Engineers, Infrastructure, Security, IT Service Management and third-party vendors.
- Provide L2/L3 application support for Triple'A Plus (Temenos TAP) and associated banking applications, ensuring high availability and service continuity.
- Monitor application health, business transactions, APIs, logs, batch jobs, interfaces, and performance metrics to proactively identify issues.
- Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents within agreed SLAs, ensuring minimal business disruption.
- Participate in major incident management, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and provide timely stakeholder communication.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support application configuration, service requests, operational activities, and user access management.
- Manage and support application changes, including impact assessment, deployment planning, testing, and rollback readiness.
- Execute and validate releases and deployments across Development, UAT, Test, and Production environments.
- Develop and maintain support documentation, SOPs, runbooks, knowledge articles, and troubleshooting guides.
- Monitor and optimize application performance, capacity, response times, and resource utilization to ensure system stability.
- Support batch processing, interfaces, message queues, APIs, file transfers, and core banking transaction processing.
- Analyze application, database, middleware, and integration logs to troubleshoot complex functional and technical issues.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL processes, audit requirements, security standards, and governance policies using ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.
- Automate repetitive operational activities through Python, Shell Scripting, and DevOps practices to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support when required, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate with global teams to enhance application performance and service quality.

Required Technical and Professional Experience
- 7+ years of experience in enterprise application production support, application maintenance, and managed services environments.
- Strong hands-on experience providing L2/L3 support for business-critical applications across complex, multi-tier enterprise environments.
- Proven expertise in incident management, service restoration, root cause analysis (RCA), problem management, and production support operations.
- Experience supporting application releases, deployments, environment promotions, change implementation, and post-deployment validation.
- Hands-on knowledge of application monitoring, log analysis, batch processing, scheduler management, APIs, messaging systems, and file-based integrations.
- Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, Request, Event, and Release Management.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Dynatrace, ELK/Elastic Stack, Splunk, distributed tracing, and performance monitoring solutions.
- Proficiency in DevOps and CI/CD tools, including GitLab/Git, Jenkins, Nexus, XL Deploy, XL Release, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
- Strong experience supporting REST APIs, Web Services, middleware integrations, message queues, and database-driven applications.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational databases, with the ability to troubleshoot performance, queries, and data-related issues.
- Hands-on expertise in Linux/Unix administration, Windows operational support, Shell/Bash scripting, PowerShell, and Python automation.
- Experience with Disaster Recovery (DR), Business Continuity Planning (BCP), backup validation, and recovery testing.
- Exposure to Temenos Transact (T24), TAFJ/TAFC, OFS, banking integrations, payments, treasury, AML, and core banking operations is highly preferred.
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, stakeholder management, documentation, and operational risk management skills with the ability to support high-severity incidents.
- Ability to work independently in 24x7 support environments, collaborate with global teams, and drive continuous improvement through automation, observability, reliability, and operational excellence initiatives.
