Apprentice Guide
Slope School | Full-Time | $40,000 + Benefits
Join a school reimagining education
Slope School is building a different kind of learning environment—one where students take ownership of their learning, families are deeply aligned with the mission, and educators are trusted as professionals.
We are looking for early-career educators who want to learn quickly, take on meaningful responsibility, and develop into exceptional teachers.
About the Role
An Apprentice Guide is a full-time, teacher-in-development role for someone with 0–1 years of teaching experience . You’ll work alongside experienced Guides while taking increasing responsibility for leading students, facilitating learning, and building a strong studio culture.
This is not a traditional classroom-aide position. Apprentice Guides are developing toward independently leading a studio, with opportunities for increased responsibility available to top performers.
What You’ll Do
Support and increasingly lead daily learning experiences, including discussions, projects, and core academic skills
Coach students through goals, challenges, and independent learning
Help build a studio culture centered on ownership, respect, and accountability
Track student progress and use data to identify where students need support
Work closely with experienced Guides to develop your classroom leadership skills
Communicate professionally with students, families, and colleagues
What We’re Looking For
0–1 years of teaching experience
A genuine desire to build a career in education
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
High ownership and an “at-cause” mindset
Coachability, curiosity, and a desire to improve quickly
Warmth with students combined with clear expectations and accountability
Why Slope?
You’ll work in a small, mission-driven school with aligned families, significant autonomy, and less bureaucracy than a traditional school environment. Our Guides focus on coaching, discussion, and meaningful learning—not grading stacks of papers or assigning homework. For exceptional performers, Slope can offer faster opportunities for increased responsibility and leadership.
Compensation & Benefits
$40,000 salary + benefits , including a health stipend, tuition benefits for children, generous PTO and paid school vacations.
