Early Childhood Teacher Assistant Apprentice

• Status: Apprenticeship

Position Summary

This position provides paid, hands-on learning in a licensed early childhood program while completing related college coursework toward an Early Childhood Education certificate or degree.

The apprentice works under the supervision of qualified teachers to provide a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children while progressing through apprenticeship competencies and academic requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• •Assist lead teachers with implementing daily classroom activities.
• •Support children's cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and language development.
• •Build positive relationships with children and families.
• •Maintain a safe, healthy, and engaging classroom environment.
• •Assist with classroom setup, organization, cleaning, and sanitation.
• •Supervise children in classrooms, playgrounds, meal times, and transitions.
• •Assist with meals, diapering, toileting, and hygiene according to licensing regulations.
• •Observe and document children's development as directed.
• •Participate in lesson preparation and classroom planning.
• •Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
• •Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, FERPA, and Colorado licensing requirements.
• •Follow all Starpoint and SPIN policies and procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• •Must be 18 years of age
• •High school diploma or GED.
• •Must be currently enrolled in approved Early Childhood Education certificate or degree program.
• •Ability to obtain and maintain all Colorado Early Childhood licensing requirements.
• •Ability to pass required criminal background checks.
• •Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• •Ability to work effectively with children, families, and coworkers.

Physical Requirements

• •Frequently lift up to 40 pounds.
• •Sit on the floor and interact with children.
• •Bend, kneel, squat, and reach throughout the workday.
• •Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
