APTD Manufacturing Development Engineering Senior Manager

As an Advanced Packaging Technology Development Manufacturing Development Engineering (MDE) Senior Manager , you will lead the MDE organization supporting DLT, MRDA, and WLT process development execution within APTD.

The APTD MDE organization serves as the execution engine of technology development by enabling rapid learning cycles, maximizing development velocity, and providing scalable 24/7 execution support across advanced packaging technology development programs.

In this role, you will provide organizational leadership, strategic direction, operational governance, and technical oversight to accelerate technology learning and ensure safe, predictable, and efficient development execution. You will establish and continuously improve the MDE operating model, workforce strategy, organizational capability, and execution systems required to support future technology roadmaps.

In support of Micron's AI transformation strategy, this role is expected to champion AI-enabled ways of working, promote responsible adoption of AI and automation technologies, and build organizational capability in leveraging AI, data analytics, and digital solutions to improve decision quality, operational effectiveness, workforce productivity, and technology development execution.

You will work closely with Technology Development, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Equipment Development, Quality, and other cross-functional organizations to accelerate technology readiness and achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership

• •Define and execute the strategy, operating model, and priorities for the APTD MDE organization.
• •Lead and develop a high-performing organization supporting DLT, MRDA, and WLT.
• •Drive workforce planning, organizational capability, succession planning, and leadership development.
• •Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
• •Drive organizational readiness for AI transformation by fostering digital capability development, encouraging innovation, and integrating AI-enabled practices into daily operations and development execution.

Development Execution Leadership

• •Provide organizational, technical, and operational leadership for process development execution.
• •Ensure effective execution of development priorities while meeting quality, safety, and business objectives.
• •Establish clear ownership, governance, escalation processes, and decision-making mechanisms.
• •Optimize resource allocation, technical capability, and operational effectiveness to improve development velocity and execution predictability.

Multi-Shift Operations Leadership

• •Lead an organization operating across rotating day and night shifts to support continuous technology development execution.
• •Ensure effective communication, leadership alignment, disciplined shift handoffs, and execution continuity across all shifts.
• •Provide leadership oversight for workforce capability, employee development, and operational performance throughout the organization.
• •Ensure workforce practices comply with company policies and applicable regulations.

Cross-Functional and Technical Leadership

• •Partner with Technology Development, Process Integration, Equipment Development, Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Quality, and other stakeholders to accelerate learning and technology readiness.
• •Provide leadership for complex technical and organizational challenges.
• •Drive adoption of best-known methods, standardized work processes, and execution excellence.
• •Enable successful transfer of technology learning and operational knowledge across organizations.

Operational Excellence

• •Establish performance indicators and drive accountability for organizational results.
• •Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, execution quality, learning velocity, and operational effectiveness.
• •Champion AI-enabled ways of working and the responsible adoption of AI, automation, digital solutions, and advanced analytics to improve organizational performance.
• •Build organizational capability in the effective use of AI and data-driven methodologies to improve decision quality, problem solving, workforce productivity, and execution effectiveness.
• •Identify and implement opportunities to leverage AI, automation, and digital technologies to streamline workflows, enhance knowledge sharing, accelerate learning cycles, and improve operational efficiency.

Safety and Compliance

• •Demonstrate visible leadership in safety, quality, compliance, and operational discipline.
• •Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• •Promote a culture that prioritizes employee safety, data integrity, and responsible business practices.

Qualifications

• •Extensive semiconductor industry experience in technology development, manufacturing engineering, process engineering, manufacturing operations, or advanced packaging.
• •Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience in advanced packaging technology development.
• •Proven success leading engineering organizations through managers, lead engineers, and technical leaders.
• •Demonstrated ability to establish organizational vision, execute strategy, and deliver business results.
• •Experience leading complex cross-functional programs and resolving technical and organizational challenges.
• •Proven track record in talent development, leadership coaching, succession planning, and building high-performing organizations.
• •Strong technical judgment, problem-solving capability, and data-driven decision-making skills.
• •Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
• •Demonstrated ability or willingness to leverage AI, automation, digital tools, and data analytics to improve decision making, problem solving, operational effectiveness, and workforce productivity.
• •Ability to promote responsible AI use consistent with company policies, data protection requirements, information security standards, and ethical business practices.
• •Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Education and experience

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline, with 5+ years of semiconductor industry experience.

OR

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or a related technical discipline, with 10+ years of semiconductor industry experience.

Work Schedule

This position follows a regular day-shift schedule .

The organization supported by this role operates across rotating day and night shifts. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership oversight, organizational alignment, employee development, escalation support, and operational continuity across all shifts.

Occasional support outside regular working hours may be required to address critical business, operational, or safety needs.
