This class introduces youth to the fundamentals of archery while promoting discipline, patience, and self-confidence in a supportive, structured environment.

We’re looking for an instructor who can provide a fun and educational experience while ensuring all participants learn proper form, equipment use, and safety practices. Whether students are picking up a bow for the first time or looking to improve their aim, your guidance will help them grow with every arrow.

We are welcoming: we are open to all. We are a place where you can belong and become. We are genuine: we value you and embrace your individuality. We are hopeful: we believe in you and your potential to become a catalyst in the world. We are nurturing: we support you in your journey to develop your full potential. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to strengthen our community, beginning with you.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead structured 6-week archery classes with a focus on beginner skill development.
  • Instruct youth on proper archery technique, including stance, draw, aim, and release.
  • Ensure a strong emphasis on safety protocols at all times, including range setup, supervision, and equipment checks.
  • Create a fun, respectful, and confidence-building environment for all participants.
  • Modify instruction based on student age and experience to ensure skill progression.
  • Communicate clearly with parents and guardians regarding safety, progress, and expectations.
  • Promote YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility in all interactions.
  • Maintain archery equipment and range to ensure a clean, safe, and organized environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the youth program.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Prior experience in archery (instruction, competition, or certification) preferred.
  • Must have a strong focus on safety and risk management.
  • Experience working with children in a coaching, education, or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to plan and lead fun, educational archery sessions for all ability levels.
  • Reliable, organized, and passionate about youth development.
  • Available to work evenings and/or weekends.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; USA Archery or equivalent certification a plus.
