Amazon Corporate Security (ACS) Devices and Services Physical Security (DSPS) team seeks a seasoned corporate security leader to serve as an Area Manager for Amazon Devices & Services (D&S) spaces primarily at West Coast sites and also across AMER. This position demands someone who embodies Amazon's Leadership Principles, particularly Customer Obsession, Ownership, Earn Trust, and Bias for Action, and who brings proven experience building, managing, and developing high-performing security teams. The Area Manager owns the physical security posture and intellectual property (IP) protection strategy for D&S partners and stakeholders, ensuring consistent policy implementation and best practice adoption across all D&S sites, workspaces, storage locations, and labs. Operating in a highly ambiguous and dynamically fluid environment, the Area Manager translates global DSPS strategy into local execution – driving accountability, removing barriers for Area Managers, and ensuring the DSPS team delivers cohesive, scalable security operations. The role serves as a primary point of escalation for D&S physical security matters and partners cross-functionally with ACS-R, GREF, SecTech, and D&S business leadership to align security programs with organizational priorities.

  • Key job responsibilities
  • Regional Security Operations & Strategy
  • - Own the deployment and continuous improvement of a comprehensive physical security plan to protect D&S assets and intellectual property across all sites
  • - Oversee the design, development, and implementation of physical security operations for all D&S spaces – including security design reviews, post-occupancy projects, partnership with ACS-R and Guard Force, logistics processes, standards, policies, and procedures
  • - Actively evaluate, analyze, and leverage operational metrics to proactively inform programmatic needs, policy decisions, and resource allocation within the region
  • - Ensure security projects and deliverables across the portfolio are completed within appropriate timelines, scope, and quality standards
  • - Conduct and oversee DSPS audits, driving the tracking and closure of audit defects in a timely manner, including the filing of deviations for DSPS and partner team review and approval
  • Cross-Functional Partnership & Escalation
  • - Partner closely with D&S developers, program managers, operational teams, and partner organizations to identify and document security issues addressable through shared infrastructure and procedures
  • - Work closely with ACS-R to understand site-level security issues and promptly escalate any impact to D&S program teams
  • - Serve as a voice in global DSPS forums, representing priorities, risks, and operational insights to global leadership
  • - Provide thorough support to D&S site-related issues such as security design trouble tickets, secure storage needs, moves, and access control modifications, ensuring Area Managers drive timely resolution
  • Program Development & Special Initiatives
  • - Champion the development of GenAI tools, particularly as applied to intellectual property protection and security
  • - Develop, initiate, maintain, and promote security projects and program updates, driving efficiency and cohesiveness of security programs
  • - Support DSPS special project initiatives with information and task management aligned to strategic business and operational goals
  • - Identify opportunities to standardize and scale best practices across the portfolio, reducing variability and strengthening the overall D&S security posture
