Introduction
The Virtual Computing Platform team in Veldhoven develops and operates cloud-based platforms that support software development, testing, and qualification activities across ASML. As cloud adoption continues to grow, understanding and managing cloud expenditure becomes increasingly important. Cloud spending is often distributed across multiple teams, applications, and environments, making it challenging to identify optimization opportunities and gain clear cost insights.
During this internship, you will explore how Artificial Intelligence can improve cloud cost visibility, optimization, and decision-making. You will work on practical AI solutions that help engineering teams better understand spending patterns, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support proactive cloud cost management in a large-scale engineering environment.
Your assignment
In this internship, you will collaborate with cloud architects, platform engineers, product teams, and FinOps stakeholders to identify where AI can add the most value in cloud cost management. Rather than focusing on theoretical research, you will develop and validate practical AI solutions that improve cloud cost visibility, forecasting, and optimization.
Your main responsibilities will be:
- Analyze cloud consumption and spending patterns across engineering environments
- Develop AI-driven prototypes and proof-of-concepts for Cloud Cost Intelligence
- Build AI agents that support cost attribution, optimization analysis, forecasting, and recommendation generation
- Explore how AI can improve cloud cost transparency and optimization activities
- Measure the impact and business value of proposed solutions
- Present findings, recommendations, and adoption guidance to stakeholders
This is a bachelor/master internship for a minimum of 5 months, minimum 4 days per week (2 days on-site, but flexible). The start date of this internship is as soon as possible.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you:
- Are pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Have programming experience in Python and familiarity with Java, JavaScript, or similar programming languages
- Have hands-on experience designing and building AI-driven applications, prototypes, or intelligent workflows
- Have knowledge of machine learning, generative AI, or Large Language Models
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Are proactive, curious, and comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams
Other requirements you need to meet:
- You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship, and you are at least 18 years old at the start of the internship;
