Asset Planning Specialist based in Singapore
Life Unlimited. At Smith+Nephew, we craft and manufacture technology that takes the limits off living.
The Asset Planner supports the deployment, storage and optimisation of capital assets, loaner surgical sets and field inventory across the region. The role is responsible for timely and accurate deployment of instruments and implant inventory to consignment, loaner, placed-capital, demonstration and evaluation locations. Through demand coordination, asset utilisation analysis, kit standardisation, inventory control and stakeholder partnering, the role improves return on inventory investment, supports customer service and reduces unnecessary asset and instrument purchases.
What will you be doing?
- Coordinate the end-to-end kit request process from approval and allocation through to build, deployment and dispatch to hospitals, ensuring agreed service and operational KPIs are achieved.
- Plan and execute the deployment, transfer, storage, consolidation and redeployment of instruments, implant inventory, loaner sets, consignment sets and placed capital across the region.
- Build and maintain equipment trays for new loaner and consignment sets, coordinating with Master Data, Schedulers, Kit Build, Operations and Sales to ensure accurate set configuration and availability.
- Coordinate spare instruments and split-pack consolidation, monitor requests for instrument replacements and support regional programs that rationalise replacement purchases and improve asset utilisation.
- Support kit standardisation and preventative maintenance programs across the region, ensuring assets and sets are correctly identified, differentiated, configured and fit for their intended use.
- Maintain accurate records for field assets used for demonstration, evaluation, placed-capital, consignment and loan purposes, including asset location, custodian, status, intended use and supporting terms and conditions.
- Ensure appropriate written terms and conditions are established and maintained for capital equipment loaned free of charge to healthcare professionals and healthcare organisations.
- Analyse asset utilisation, field inventory and financial performance using return-on-investment principles; identify underutilised, excess or fragmented holdings and recommend consolidation, redeployment or investment actions.
- Monitor and drive inventory performance, including Days of Sales Inventory (DSI), surgical set turns, cycle-count completion, stock-count variances, and resolution of open billing and due-back inventory.
- Coordinate cycle counts for field assets, loaner sets and consignment inventory; investigate discrepancies and partner with relevant stakeholders to achieve timely reconciliation and closure.
- Provide clear reporting and communication on asset risks, investment requirements, utilisation opportunities, service constraints and corrective-action progress to management and business stakeholders.
- Develop effective relationships with Business Unit leaders, Regional Sales Managers, Marketing, Finance, Master Data, Schedulers, Kit Build, Operations leads, global project teams, distributors and customers.
- Ensure assets and inventory comply with Quality and HSE standards; maintain accurate procedures and documentation, support the region Quality assurance programs and apply continuous improvement to workflows and controls.
- Support colleagues through information sharing, structured problem-solving and constructive input; escalate risks or opportunities outside the role’s authority and act as an agent of change when required.
