You’ll work closely with the Administrator on operations, staffing, quality and compliance, and you’ll run the facility when the Administrator is away. You’ll help shape the site’s future while keeping person-centered care at the center of everything the team does.
What You’ll Do
- Help plan, organize and direct daily operations across the facility and its HCBS programs
- Take on full administrative authority when the Administrator is away
- Write, update and review facility policies and procedures (at least once a year) to keep them compliant with regulations
- Recruit, hire and onboard directors, supervisors and Direct Support Professionals
- Supervise staff directly, including coaching, performance reviews and corrective action
- Plan and schedule staff orientation and in-service training, and conduct satisfaction and exit interviews
- Protect resident rights, including confidentiality, fair treatment and grievance review
- Oversee health and safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and the upkeep of the building and grounds
- Serve on the Quality Assurance and Infection Control committees and help write plans of correction for survey findings
- Inspect the facility and programs every week, and report on operations to the Administrator and Management Team
- Build strong relationships with residents, families, government agencies and the community
What You Bring
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience in an HCBS or residential care setting
- High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must meet Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals (DIA) qualifications for residential care facility administrative staff (481 IAC 57.9)
- Working knowledge of residential care and HCBS operating standards, regulations and reimbursement
- Experience supervising both professional and non-professional staff, and working well across departments
- Sound judgment and the confidence to make decisions on your own
- At least 21 years old
- Valid driver’s license, and able to get a chauffeur’s license if required
- Must pass background, abuse registry and reference checks
- Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- You’ll work in the office, throughout the facility and in community homes. Some evenings, weekends and holidays may be needed. The role includes moving around the facility throughout the day, helping with resident transfers and evacuations, and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.
