Job Description

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Special Education to begin Fall 2027 .

This is a 9-month faculty appointment as a tenure-track assistant professor or a tenured associate professor. Primary duties will include teaching across modalities, including face-to-face and online undergraduate courses and online graduate courses. Duties also include mentoring students and serving on departmental, college, university, and professional committees. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.

The mission of the College of Education is to prepare highly effective, culturally competent educational professionals who are equipped to understand and assume leadership positions in a global society.

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate must hold a doctorate in Special Education or related field required. ABDs considered for Assistant Professor if degree is completed before appointment. Associate Professor candidates must meet qualifications for rank and tenure. All specializations welcome. Current PreK–12 special education certification or eligibility required, along with PreK–12 special education classroom experience. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness or potential in face-to-face undergraduate and online graduate courses. We strongly encourage candidates with documented record of special education work in public schools; ability to teach in areas that complement and strengthen our current programs; and educational Diagnostician Certification.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
