Position : Assistant Manager – Quality Control
Department: Quality Control
Location: Bhiwandi Plant (BBK)
Reporting To : Manager - Quality Control
About the Role
The Assistant Manager – Bars (QC) is responsible for ensuring that all raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods meet the company's quality standards and food safety requirements. The role focuses on maintaining product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous process improvement while supporting efficient production operations.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Control Operations
● Lead day-to-day QC activities for the Bars manufacturing line.
● Ensure compliance with product specifications, GMP, GHP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and internal quality standards.
● Review and approve raw material, packaging material, in-process, and finished product quality.
● Monitor critical control points (CCPs) and quality parameters during production. ● Ensure timely release of finished products after quality verification.
Process Monitoring
● Conduct routine quality inspections across manufacturing and packaging areas.
● Verify adherence to SOPs, work instructions, and quality checkpoints.
● Monitor product attributes such as weight, dimensions, texture, moisture, and appearance.
● Coordinate with Production to resolve quality issues during manufacturing.
Documentation & Compliance
● Maintain QC records, reports, and batch documentation accurately.
● Review production and quality records for completeness.
● Support internal, customer, and external audits.
● Ensure compliance with FSSAI, FSSC 22000, GMP, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Investigation & CAPA
● Investigate product non-conformities, customer complaints, and process deviations.
● Perform root cause analysis using quality tools.
● Implement and monitor Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
● Track effectiveness of implemented actions.
Team Management
● Supervise QC Executives, Officers, and Technicians.
● Plan manpower deployment across shifts.
● Conduct training on quality systems, hygiene, GMP, and food safety practices.
● Drive performance and continuous skill development within the QC team.
Cross-Functional Coordination
● Work closely with Production, QA, Warehouse, Procurement, and R&D teams.
● Support new product development and product trials.
● Participate in continuous improvement and cost optimization initiatives.
Continuous Improvement
● Analyze quality trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
● Reduce product rejections, wastage, and customer complaints.
● Support Lean, Kaizen, and operational excellence initiatives.
Qualification
● B.Tech/B.Sc./M.Sc. in Food Technology, Food Science, Dairy Technology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
Experience
● 5–8 years of experience in Quality Control within the Food/FMCG industry.
● Hands-on experience in bars, confectionery, chocolate, bakery, snacks, or similar food manufacturing is preferred.
● Experience in handling FSSC 22000 and food safety audits.
Required Skills
● Strong understanding of food quality systems and regulatory requirements.
● Knowledge of GMP, GHP, HACCP, FSSC 22000, and FSSAI regulations.
● Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
● Leadership and people management capability.
● Effective communication and stakeholder management.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and quality documentation.
