Major League Baseball is looking for an Assistant, Minor League Operations & Development (Seasonal) in the Minor League Operations & Development department to support key baseball operations functions and contribute to the tools, reporting, and processes that shape the department, including its use of data and AI. Throughout the season, you will gain hands-on experience, education, and mentorship, developing a thorough understanding of minor league operations and player development across professional baseball.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with members of Minor League Operations & Development and the broader Baseball Operations department on aspects of league operations and administration

Liaise between player development stakeholders, including 120 Player Development License (PDL) Club front offices and 30 MLB Club player development departments

Maintain, update, and improve the code and data pipelines behind the department’s reports and tools

Assist in the preparation of materials to aid in monitoring compliance with league governance requirements

Use generative AI tools in day-to-day work and help the department put them to practical use

Provide departmental support for daily operational and administrative duties

Conduct ad-hoc analysis related to current trends in player development

Develop core and domain-specific baseball operations competencies through hands-on experience, education, and mentorship

Qualifications & Skills

Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance from any discipline or background

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical work to a non-technical audience

Intrinsically motivated and reliable, with astute attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills

Strong reasoning and critical thinking skills, along with the curiosity to learn new tools and subjects independently

Working knowledge of at least one programming language such as R, Python, or SQL gained through coursework, projects, or self-teaching

Experience using generative AI tools, including AI coding assistants, in school, work, or personal projects is a plus

Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace

Familiarity with the player development system is a plus

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining availability outside of traditional business hours as dictated by baseball operations activity across the league

Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
