Job Description Summary

The College of Creative Arts (CCA) seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position to support the Department of Emerging Technology in Business and Design (ETBD) and the College of Creative Arts in immersive experience, entertainment design, and mixed reality.

Job Description

Duties:

  • Teach courses to include extended reality, motion graphics, TouchDesigner, interactive media, entertainment design, and experiential design (involving projection mapping and our immersive production environment)
  • Maintain an active research and/or creative program using the extended reality lab to support immersive experiences, mixed reality, entertainment design, or related areas of inquiry
  • Actively pursue grant funding
  • Develop curricula
  • Coordinate the entertainment design and technology program
  • Provide service to the University

ETBD faculty are actively involved in advising students; facilitating graduate/undergraduate interdisciplinary research projects; leading client-based projects; participating in grant-funded projects; leading co-curricular activities, student organizations, etc.

Minimum Qualifications:

Terminal degree in a related field by the date of appointment in a field related to immersive experiences, mixed reality, or entertainment design.

The Department of Emerging Technology in Business & Design is an integral part of the College of Creative Arts.

The College of Creative Arts at Miami University is a dynamic, interdisciplinary community encompassing departments in art, architecture and interior design, emerging technology in business and design, music, and theatre, alongside a vibrant ecosystem of centers and institutes including the Institute for Innovation in Arts and Design, Fashion Institute, Armstrong Institute for Emerging Technology, and the Center for Community Engagement in Over-the-Rhine (Cincinnati), as well as the Richard and Carole Cocks Art Museum and a nationally recognized Performing Arts Series. The college takes an innovative, career-focused approach that integrates emerging technologies, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning. Through industry partnerships and cross-disciplinary collaboration, CCA prepares graduates to lead in the creative industries.
