Wofford College’s Department of English Language and Literature seeks applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Global and Anglophone Literatures of the long 19th century to begin Fall 2027.
EXPECTATIONS
Wofford’s faculty teach a 3-1-3 load. The “1” indicates the January Interim term, during which professors may travel with students or teach on a variety of topics using experiential teaching methods. All department members are expected to advise students on a regular basis. They are also expected to be present for regular departmental activities and to help with college-wide service work. Wofford faculty are teacher-scholars with a focus on undergraduate teaching and advising and a commitment to the liberal arts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants will have a Ph.D. in English Literature, Comparative Literature, or a related field by the beginning of the appointment. Preferred subfields include British literature, global Indigenous literatures, transnational literatures, or literary theory. The incoming faculty member will teach a first-year seminar in the Liberal Arts, introductory courses in English, and advanced courses in British literature and their area of specialty. We are particularly interested in applicants whose pedagogy or scholarship addresses Wofford's core values as expressed in our Mission Statement .

Candidates who make it through the first round of interviews will be asked also to provide professional recommendations, teaching materials, and writing samples.
