SAR Academy, a Modern Orthodox, co-educational day school in Riverdale, NY, is hiring dedicated and passionate Assistant Teachers for the 2026–2027 school year in our Infant Toddler Center (serving children ages 8 weeks to 24 months). We seek educators who foster curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning in young children, while cultivating a warm, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

We are looking for a full-time infant toddler assistant teacher who is committed to providing high-quality care and being an active member of our school community. Ideal candidates are nurturing and reflective, supporting each child’s social, emotional, linguistic, cognitive, and physical development. Our classrooms are led by collaborative teaching teams that value strong communication, shared responsibility, and a sense of unity. Rooted in a constructivist, play-based approach, our program emphasizes exploration and discovery, encouraging educators to nurture each child’s natural sense of wonder, imagination, and self-esteem through responsive and intentional practice.

Responsibilities

- Support the developmental and educational growth of infants and toddlers through age-appropriate, responsive care, adhering to health and safety standards

- Respond attentively and efficiently to each child’s individual needs

- Foster a nurturing, calm, and patient environment grounded in warmth and respect

- Promote positive behavior and support healthy social interactions among children

- Build secure, trusting relationships with each child through consistency and connection.

- Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily activities, including diapering, feeding, napping routines, and maintaining a clean classroom

Qualifications

- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children and foster an atmosphere of mutual respect

- Effective problem-solving skills and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues

- Solid understanding of early childhood development, including social, emotional, and cognitive growth

- Creative, flexible, and open-minded approach to teaching and caregiving

- Knowledge of current best practices in early childhood education

- Familiarity with Jewish culture and traditions

- Minimum age of 21

- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education, CDA, or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; candidates with relevant experience who are willing to pursue certification or degree completion will also be considered

SAR Academy offers a supportive and welcoming environment for educators to grow professionally while making a lasting impact on young learners. If you’re passionate about early childhood education and looking to be part of an inspiring team, we encourage you to apply!
