Description of Work
This position is located in Guilford County, the Greensboro unit office. The Assistant Unit Manager will be responsible for daily supervision, leadership and assigned casework supervision and approval for Rehabilitation Counselors based in the unit office. The Assistant Unit Manager will also manage vacant caseloads as needed and serve as acting Unit Manager in the absence of the Unit Manager. This position reports to the Unit Manager or designee.
Selected applicant is accountable for supervision of the design and implementation of a comprehensive plan of vocational rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities by non-independent counselors. The incumbent will: supervise and/or conduct the evaluation of diagnostic data to determine eligibility and needed services; development of written plans of services in conjunction with the consumer; provide supportive counseling; monitor the consumer's progress; and work directly with community partners in order to enhance employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, develop and maintain community resources/ partnerships as directed.
The position also works with the Independent Living program to ensure independence in the home and community. This position works directly with clients, employers, medical professionals, Community Rehabilitation Programs, community partners/Guilford County schools, Universities/Colleges, other agencies, and vendors to coordinate services for clients.
Job responsibilities include the following:
- * Assist the Unit Manager with work which involves planning, implementing, and evaluating the technical and administrative components of a diverse rehabilitation program consisting of multiple caseloads, third party
- programs and rehabilitation programs.
- * Provides administrative management that includes personnel administration, staff development/training and consultation, and Coordination of the unit’s safety and health measures
- * Will work closely with Greensboro Management Team to ensure that consumers continue to receive quality and timely services during caseload vacancies
- * Work will include other related assignments as determined by Unit Manager
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Range: $57,983.00-$101,470.00
Recruitment Range: $76,000.00 - $90,597.00

* Knowledge of casework methodology and techniques of rehabilitation counseling
* Knowledge of federal and state laws governing the delivery of rehabilitation or independent living services
* Demonstrated ability to interpret medical and psychological data in planning and developing rehabilitative services
* Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with consumers, family members, and various professional and specialty services involved in the rehabilitation process.
* Knows EIPD policy/procedure and can train and work with inexperienced counselors
